OBS is one of the most popular and usually reliable streaming software out there right now. A good number of people use OBS more than any other software. That being said it doesn’t always do what you want it to and can have trouble. There can be a number of issues with Twitch if your stream isn’t working, and OBS being fickle can be one of them. If you get the ‘OBS failed to load channel information for Twitch’ error message specifically, here’s how you can try and fix it.
How to Reconnect OBS and Twitch
There are a couple of options with this one as there can be a slew of possible problems OBS is having getting to connect to Twitch.
The first one to try is quick and easy, just check OBS for updates. The button is located in the Help menu of OBS.
The second option is to check on Twitch’s status. It might be on their end that the site isn’t working. You always want to make sure of this. Here is the status page for a quick look. If this is the problem then we have a few suggestions on that end to highlight above.
A third possibility could be a security issue between Twitch and OBS. This can be resolved by opening up a Two-Factor Authentication setup with Twitch. Go to Settings in your Twitch Profile. Click on “Security and Privacy” in the settings Menu. Once on the Security and Privacy page, look for the Two-Factor Authentication option. Click the setup button and follow the instructions from there.
The last possible option could be to simply clear out your browser cache. Sometimes something in there gets corrupted or filled up and cleaning it out works for some.
Again, if none of these options work, check out other possibilities related more to the Twitch side of things that are highlighted at the start of this article.
