How to Fix Lag, Stuttering, and Frame Drops in Dead Space Remake

Buttery smooth can be hard to achieve.

There are games that can run on a literal calculator, or even a pregnancy test (yes, it is Doom). There are other games that will struggle to run even on a Quantum Computer. Obviously, this is an exaggeration (not the Doom one, that is real), but nowadays, the resources and power needed to run a brand-new game are over the top. Having said that, there are ways that you can still run these games on older hardware. Don’t worry, here is how to fix lag, stuttering, and frame drops in Dead Space Remake.

How to Fix Lag, Stuttering, and Frame Drops

Buy a new graphics card. That is what others would probably say. And while I would recommend upgrading your GPU if you plan on running this game at native 4K with full RT options and at 144 FPS, the average player does not have access to a 4090. There are some things you can do to gain some stability and frames per second. Follow the below tips to know how to fix lag, stuttering, and frame drops in Dead Space Remake.

  • Game Launchers that are unnecesarily open, will use a decent amount of resources. Be sure to close all apps (including Chrome) to make Dead Space more stable.
  • Update your Windows installation along with your GPU’s drivers. Since Dead Space Remake is brand new, maybe it will need some functionality that your current Windows or driver installations do not possess.
  • Verify the integrity of the files in Steam. Open Steam Library and right-click on Dead Space. Select Properties, Local Files and click on Verify integrity of game files. This could fix any potential errors that could be happening in-game due to any corrupted files.
  • Some system limitations may be slowing down your experience, so run the game as an administrator in order to ignore them.
  • Disable V-Sync to allow the game to generate as many frames as it can without being limited by the monitor’s capabilities.
  • Downgrade your game’s graphics. Specially focus on shadow effects and, of course, do not use any ray-tracing if your GPU is unable to run it properly. You probably won’t notice the difference graphic wise, but it will be pretty obvious performance wise.

If you want to see how does your system stands, here is a table detailing the system requirements, both minimum and recommended:
