How to Find the 6th Chamber in Enter the Gungeon

Welcome to Bullet Hell.

Enter the Gungeon only has five regular levels, or “Chambers.” Now, does that not strike you as a bit weird? That a game that adheres so strictly to gun iconography wouldn’t mimic the classic six-shot revolver? Well, it turns out it does, and in a hell of a way, if you catch my drift. Here’s how to find the 6th chamber in Enter the Gungeon.

How to Find the 6th Chamber in Enter the Gungeon

Enter the Gungeon features a hidden 6th chamber (not to be confused with Sixth Chamber, which is a passive item) past the 5th chamber, the Forge. The 6th chamber is named Bullet Hell, and the name is quite apt; there are enemies from every single previous chamber of the Gungeon, as well as no shops or treasure rooms. If you make it into this forsaken land, it’s a straight shot from the start to the end, where its master, the Lich, dwells.

So, how do you actually access the 6th chamber? The good news is that you won’t get into Bullet Hell by accident. The bad news is that you’re going to need to put a pretty large amount of work in just to get in for the first time, to say nothing of subsequent times.

In order to access the 6th chamber, you’ll first need to kill the past of the four main Gungeoneers: The Convict, The Hunter, The Marine, and The Pilot. Obviously, that means you need to play through the game enough times to assemble the components of the Bullet That Can Kill The Past, then defeat the High Dragun and use the Gun That Can Kill The Past on all four characters and defeat their unique bosses.

Once you’ve successfully killed the four Gungeoneers’ pasts, the next time you defeat the High Dragun and enter the Aimless Void (the floaty place where you find the Gun That Can Kill The Past), a big skeleton hand will pop out of a red portal on the platform right before the Gun and drag you down to Bullet Hell. The first time you make it to the Aimless Void after killing the four main pasts, this process will happen automatically and unavoidably.

On all subsequent runs, whether you clear Bullet Hell or not, the red portal will reappear on the platform in the Aimless Void, where the choice to enter Bullet Hell will be yours. Side note, you can’t enter Bullet Hell for the first time if you’re playing on Challenge Mode or Blessing Mode, but once you’ve entered the portal at least once in a normal run, then you can enter the 6th chamber in those modes.

Bullet Hell ain’t a fun place, as you’d expect, but if you can survive its depths and defeat the Lich, you’ll be on track to unlocking the game’s final and most powerful character.
