Slime Rancher 2 offers an abundance of new slimes to care for and play with. Such a new array of slimes would make any rancher ready to go off and collect them all up. But with the new slimes, comes a new diet. There is only one slime that has dietary requirements so specific and unique. The flutter slimes. Here is how to find the flutter slimes and care for them in Slime Rancher 2.
How to find the flutter slimes in Slime Rancher 2
The flutter slimes are quite hard to locate, but once you find one, you’ll find them all. You’ll have to start your search when the sun comes down, as that’s when they like to leap out. Despite their night-time tendencies, they do not suffer any ill effect when exposed to the sun.
You’ll want to hurry over to the Starlight Strand and make your way to the very back of the island, where the island splits in two from the prismatic waves. You’ll notice a Flutter Gordo sitting in front of the split. Around that behemoth at the night time is where the Flutter slimes will amass. They aren’t tied exactly to that area, and can be found in a very large radius around the gordo, but that is where you’ll find the most.
The flutter slimes only eat nectar, a unique food that only drops at night from their flowers.
If you want to capture some, you’d better act fast, as with so many slimes, largo formations are super common. And with largos, come the Tarr, so be sure to snatch them before they get eaten!
The flutter slimes can fly high into the air, one of the only slimes with the ability to stay elevated at the highest altitude.
How to care for the flutter slimes in Slime Rancher 2
Flutter slimes are a joy to keep for any rancher, but you must be careful with them.
Their unique diet means they can flutter around your conservatory risk free, flying into the air. They are curious, so they will happily check out other slimes and gardens, making a cute companion. When they are well-fed with nectar, they will produce a calming aura that will soothe your other slimes, making them an adorable companion.
Just be careful not to leave any plorts lying around, as they will be more than happy to eat those! Additionally, their flying capabilities makes them difficult to contain, as their flying will shut down the airnet and they will fly free.

To keep them contained, merge them into largos, as they have a tougher time flying and will remain contained. This also means that you can feed them growable food, as nectar cannot be grown. Only collected.
