How to Evade All Monsters in The Classrooms

This is not a place for kids to learn

The latest liminal space horror game sees the combination of found-footage with a hardly used gimmick of your microphone. The Classrooms is a uniquely randomised experience which houses multiple horrors. From the anxiety of being placed inside the liminal space of a Backrooms type setting. To the monsters who are stalking you from the darkness. Try to remain quiet as you move through the limitless hallways of a setting similar to reality but far from it. For the monsters can hear you. With SCP style monsters, distinguishable by their numbered identity. Here is our guide on how to evade each monster in The Classrooms.

Item 004: The Doll

The Doll works very much like SCP 173. For those who doo not know of this monster, it acts as a statue that moves when you are not looking. Similar to that seen in horror games with the monster being a mannequin. This monster is by far the easiest to evade. However, once it is paired with another it makes evading incredibly difficult. Listen out for the Doll laughing or crying audio cues to tell you when she is nearby. You will also hear her footsteps as she is within close proximity. When this happens, put yourself either in a wide corridor on inside a room with two doors. Wait for the Doll to approach and get within two metres of you. You can do this by turning around and regularly checking her position.

Whilst this sounds like a terrible idea in writing, this monster is far slower than you originally anticipate. The audio of her footsteps are much faster than the speed she is actually producing. This is added in to make the player panic. But fear not, this Doll will not come close to you unless you let it. Keep a distance when you are in a long corridor and get to a room to trap the Doll in. The Doll cannot open doors so used that to your advantage. Once you get past the Doll in a room, shut the door and make sure the handle goes up to indicate that it is closed. The Doll will have no choice but to teleport. The time in which you see the Doll again varies due to its teleportation location.

Item 608: The Smiling Face

The Smiling Face is a relentless monster who once it lays eyes on you will continue to pursue. The Smiling Face works only in the darkness. Due to The Classrooms being a dimly lit setting upon your initial entry into the liminal space, The Smiling Face will appear in moments of total darkness. Therefore, your only real counter against this monster is to keep the hallways lit. There are light switches on the walls of the corridors and inside every room. The Smiling Face will not approach you in these areas that are lit. However, some corridors do not have a light source. When this is the case, make sure that you are stocked up on batteries for your flashlight. This will be essential in evading this monster.

We recommend turning on the lights whenever you are in a new area. Try to remember the layout of the area you are currently in for an easy exit should The Smiling Face come after you. That way you can quickly run to a well lit corridor without panicking to turn on the lights in the area you are in. Your vision will shake when the face is nearby and when looking into the darkness with your flashlight, the light will glow an orange hue instead of the typical white from a flashlight. You cannot hover in a well-lit area for too long if The Smiling Face is nearby because it will enter the room and take away the light source. The audio cue to listen out for is its mechanical growl. This monster moves through vents so keep an eye out.

Item 686: Visual Distortion

The game is played in found-footage fashion meaning that we are playing through the lens of a camera. Because of this Item 686 is one of those monsters that are incredibly hard to spot. The only information available about this monster is that once you lay eyes on it, 686 will become hostile and attack. Just like the other monsters, it is a one-shot kill against the player. Therefore we recommend that any visual distortion on the camera should be ignored and taken as jumpscares. Stay focussed on moving through the corridors and avoiding seeking the truth to the appearance of this monster. For that will not end well.

Item 686 can shape shift, transforming in front of your eyes. If you see any visual disturbances such as the camera glitching out, keep your head down and continue moving.

Item REDACTED: Long Legs

Long Legs is similar to the Doll in that it patrols areas. This makes it relatively easy to avoid. The only thing to look out for when facing Long Legs is the cue for when this monster sees you. It will let out a loud scream as its indication for it about to chase you. The best method you can take to evade this monster is to remember your nearby exit route. Where you came from and where you can run to, to escape Long Legs. This monster can be outrunned. It has very limited vision so walk instead of running whenever it is near to avoid being heard. The monster will only see you if you are in front of it, giving you more than enough time to quickly move out of its line of sight.

Item REDACTED: Cloaked Man

The Cloaked Man makes it presence known through physical manipulations such as messing with the lights. Look out for the lights flickering in the hallways. When they do, run to the nearest lockers to hide yourself in. This is the best way to evade this monster. Whilst you could run to try and escape, the Cloaked Man, much like The Smiling Man is relentless. The screen will turn red when the Cloaked Man appears. Do not look for him. Similar to the SCP 049, this monster will follow you until it catches you. Therefore, we recommend that when you see flickering lights, you go and hide in an adjacent room or inside any lockers within the corridor you are standing in.
