The One Piece world is absolutely lousy with giant monsters. Most of the biggest and meanest ones live in the oceans, but there are plenty of big dudes with big attitudes on land as well. The deserts of Alabasta in particular have no shortage of enormous reptiles, some of which are guarding treasure! Here’s how to defeat the Leviathan in One Piece Odyssey.
How to Defeat Leviathan in One Piece Odyssey
While the Straw Hats are venturing through Alabasta’s massive desert on the way to Rainbase, they have to cut through a small patch of ruins surrounded by shifting sands. Midway through these ruins, they come across various piles of bones, culminating in a giant bone pile with a sleeping reptilian Leviathan in the middle. The obvious choice is to set sleeping lizards lie, but it’s also surrounded by treasure and, well, come on. Treasure.

You don’t actually have to fight the Leviathan if you don’t want to; as long as you don’t step on any of the bone piles, he won’t wake up, and you can grab all of the small items on the piles from a distance with Luffy. If you can fight it, though, you’ll get some good experience, plus the treasure chests it was guarding. If you’ve got the guts, go ahead and approach it.
Fighting the Leviathan
The Leviathan is a Speed type foe, meaning it’s weak against Power types and strong against Technique types. For your party composition, Luffy is an absolute must, with either Sanji or Chopper backing him up on the front lines. You should also bring Usopp along, as the Leviathan is weak to his gag moves like Usopp Pound and Rubberband of Doom. Your fourth party member is up to you; you can either have your unused Power member add some more muscle, or you can bring Nami in to act as back-line support, throwing items and protecting with Mirage Tempo.
The Leviathan will be the only enemy on the field, and it should be facing down Luffy in his area. Have your other Power fighter and Usopp jump to Luffy’s area to help and start unloading with your strongest moves. Have your fourth member support the others however they can; use Sanji’s cooking to provide mass heals and TP restoration to keep the strong hits coming. The Leviathan only has two attacks: a regular single-target attack, and a Shining Spew that hits its entire area. If you have Nami, have her dole out Mirages to the other members from the start so that, when these big hits come, they don’t hit too hard.
Just keep up the offensive while supporting your front-liners, and the Leviathan should go down without too much trouble. Once it’s defeated, you’ll receive the Leviathan’s Power accessory, which provides a Guts boost, and you can loot its chests for some Electric Dragon Meat, a Guts Ring, and an Attack Ring. Unfortunately, you can’t open the fancy chest without a Treasure Key. You can earn those from certain sidequests, so keep a mental note to come back later. Don’t worry, the Leviathan won’t respawn.
