How to customize classes in Warhammer 40K: Darktide

The God Emperor demands your service, reject.

Warhammer 40K: Darktide has four classes that you can play around with. And by play, I really mean slaughter and smash. Each class can be customized not just physically, but also skillfully, so players can build up specialized operatives that excel in certain environments and niches. During the closed beta, and from launch, the classes and class customization may be disappointing to most players, but the developers have announced that they will add more in the future. Here is how to customize your classes in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.

Currently, there is only really one way to do that. In between matches, you can press ‘I’ to see your loadout screen. From there, click on the ‘feats’ menu at the top to be brought to a screen where all the class-specific abilities and passive bonuses are shown.

Right now, there is no way to change the default Blitz, aura, Ability, or Iconic for either of the four classes, but that may change in the future.

WHat you can change, however, are the feats which are shown in six columns of three at the bottom.

Every five trust levels, you will unlock a new column of abilities. They may have a tied theme. You do not benefit from all three of them, however. You can only pick one of the three abilities in that column. Don’t worry, you can change the selected ability in a column at any time between matches.

By level 30, you will have all six columns unlocked, and you will have six feats in play. You can cater the feats to help your character in ways to become a unique build from other players, becoming more useful and versatile.

Players are currently disappointed with the current system, stating that it feels mostly redundant. However, we can expect changes and tweaks and a better system after launch, but it won’t be straight away.
