Are you trying to catch a Dung Beetle in ACNH? It may be one of the insects you still need for that Critterpedia. In this guide, we’ll show you the seasonality, active hours, and weather requirements for getting a Dung Beetle to show up on your island. Here’s how to catch a Dung Beetle in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
How to catch a Dung Beetle in Animal Crossing New Horizons
Here’s everything you need to know about the Dung Beetle:
- Insect: Dung Beetle
- Seasonality: December-February (Northern), June-August (Southern)
- Active Hours: All Day
- Location: Pushing Snowballs
- Selling Price: 3,000 Bells
The Dung Beetle may be one of the few insects you’re missing from your Critterpedia. If that’s the case, we got you covered. Dung Beetles appear during the snowy months of December through February for Northern Hemisphere players. If you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, add six months to that, and you will find them between June and August.
There is one particular requirement for getting Dung Beetles to show up, and that is snow. There must be snow on the ground for Dung Beetles to appear. Snowballs need to be around for Dung Beetles to appear nearby. As you may know, you can push together two snowballs to make a Snowboy. However, creating a Snowboy will not allow new snowballs to appear on your island. For this reason, you will have to wait until the next day for snowballs and Dung Beetles to show up.
Aside from the seasonality and snowball requirement, you can find this insect at any time of the day. It will be on the ground hanging out near a snowball. When you find one, be sure not to scare it away. Use some caution, so you don’t have to wait for another one to spawn.
