I’m not a huge fan of the sea. Not because it is huge and blue, but because it is the perfect definition of the unknown. I’m sure I’ve said it before, but everyday new creepy creatures are discovered and stuff from movies and myth becomes a reality. If I were to pick a place to live, I would certainly not pick the bottom of the ocean. And I would certainly not pick a ship that will have to fight a sea monster that swallows people for fun. That is up to you to handle. Here is how to beat the Scourge of the Seas in Octopath Traveler 2.
How to Beat the Scourge of the Seas in Octopath Traveler 2
During your adventure to discover the Arcanist job and class, you will have to purchase a very expensive sheet, and travel to an island topped with a giant maze, only to walk into nothingness and get your Arcanist license. Well, things sounds complicated enough, yet, you will have to do one more thing. And that is going through a whirlpool and face the Scourge of the Seas. What would a secret quest be without an incredibly difficult fight, right? Oh well, let us beat him with some strategy. Here are the creature’s stats and moveset for you to keep in mind in order to beat the Scourge of the Seas.

Scourge of the Seas’ Moveset

| Shipwreck | Party attack that deals more than 800 damage and has a chance to inflict a status effect, blocking boost attacks of any sorts. |
| Dark Vortex | Party dark attack that deals 1100 damage and has a high chance to deal a critical hit. |
| The enemy attempts to swallow everything… | If the name isn’t obvious, this is a charge attack that will have three members of your team swallowed. |
Scourge of the Seas Strategy
So, this is not a particular difficult fight. You will have to keep your party alive by using some healing and protection, thanks to the Scourge’s numerous party attacks. At the same time, you will have to lower the Scourge’s shields, since he has a good bunch of them and, of course, deal all the damage possible. Be sure to bring a couple of healers with you to keep you alive and use several support skills to ensure your survival. Bring a Warrior to deal heavy damage to the Scourge. You can also bring a Double Tomahawk, which is a weapon that hits twice.
Basically, while protecting yourself, deal all the damage you can deal and continue healing and attacking to infinity. It is a wise thing to bring a couple of healers since the Scourge will remove two members of your party at the start of the fight, lasting for two turns. Once they return, the Scourge will focus on party attacks, only to then remove two other party members. Continue your attacks until he reaches 30,000 HP.
He will then try to swallow three members. Here is where you will have to break him by hitting him with everything you got. If he does swallow your party members, you are pretty much dead, so prevent that from happening. He will sometimes shapeshift as well, just use your skills to address the new weaknesses and continue protection yourself and debuffing his shields while attacking him with everything you got until it dies.

The Scourge is Dead
It is not a complicated battle, but you will have to be extra careful due to the Scourge’s damage output. Once you have defeated the Scrouge, you will be able to continue your adventure to become an Arcanist, as well as collecting the Sea Monster’s Whisker. If you are having some problems defeating it, you can hire Veteran Warriors to deal extreme amounts of damage points and even max out your BP. It is up to you. Good luck, sailor.
