How to Add Enemies to your Squad Mid-Match in Warzone 2

Proximity Chat and Switching Teams?

Warzone 2.0 is almost here, releasing November 16th, 2022. The time zones for its release are 10am PT, 1pm ET and 6pm GMT. Early-access to Warzone is set to shut down two hours prior to its release to undergo maintenance. Those who are playing now have uncovered a new in-game mechanic. This is to add players on the enemy team to your in-game squad. Not only has Warzone added proximity chat to its game modes. Which promote trash-talking and banter. But you now have the ability to send a request to join the team of your choosing. This can be done mid-match. Want to know how to use this new feature? Here is how to add enemies to your squad mid-match.

How to Accept a Request to Join

During a match, if someone decided they wanted to play on your team they can send a request. This appears as a large pop-up display on your screen, reading:

Request Received (players name) Wants to Join your Squad.

If you are playing on PC, you can accept or deny the request via Alt Key. If you are playing on Console you can click up on the D-pad. When you click on the option to either accept or deny the request you will see the ping wheel. Here on the right side of the wheel you will see a tick and a cross. Next to the tick it says: Allow (players name) to Join your Squad and next to the cross it reads: Don’t Allow (players name) to Join your Squad.

The tick and cross appear per request therefore if multiple people were to send you a request to join your squad within a short timeframe of one another, or sent a request out simultaneously, the last person to send a request through would be the one you respond to. The other requests will be overwritten by the latest request. By accepting or declining a request another pop up appears in the middle of the screen either telling you and your squad that the Request is Denied, or telling the squad that a New Squadmate has Joined.

How to Invite Enemies to Your Squad

This can be done via the ping wheel, for PC this is the Alt Key and for Console this is up on the D-pad. Again, just as if you were accepting or declining a request, there are two options on the right side of the ping wheel:

  • Invite Nearby Players to Join Your Squad.
  • Request to Join Nearby Enemies Squad.

This is a unique new feature that is made possible due to the proximity chat that has been added to the Warzone 2.0. This can only work if your team is not a full squad. So, when playing Quads and you only have a three-man squad, players on the enemy team can choose to join you. This is a huge development and could easily have an effect on a match outcome. If an enemy was performing well in their squad but their squadmates were not doing as well as them then they can choose to switch sides, joining another team mid-match. One moment you could be losing, the next you could be winning by joining the enemy team.
