How to Activate Game Djimmi in Cuphead

Game Djimmi (hardy har har) is a new feature that was added to Cuphead along with its DLC. You don’t need the DLC installed to use it, though; this is considered base game stuff. If you talk to Quadratus, the big face dude floating in a pool on the east side of Inkwell Isle Two, he’ll tell you a way to make your life a little easier: “spin in place and count to three.”

If you spin around in place three times anywhere on the world map, Djimmi the Great, AKA Game Djimmi, will appear to help you. After activating Game Djimmi, you’ll get 3 extra health points until you successfully win a fight.

Now, being a proper genie, Djimmi does have some rules for his help:

  • The bonus health only lasts until you win a fight, though you can activate it again afterwards to get it back.
  • You can only call Djimmi three times in one playthrough, though after you beat the game, you can call him again as many times as you want.
  • Djimmi can only help you on Simple and Regular-difficulty fights, not Expert.
  • On any boss fought with Djimmi’s help, you can’t score higher than a B+ on your end grade. You also can’t get a golden flag.

If you’re really stuck on a boss and want to just progress the game, don’t hesitate to call up Djimmi for help. He’s here for your benefit, even if the one you’re trying to beat is Djimmi himself!
