How Sanity works in Escape the Backrooms and How to Keep It

Don't lose your marbles...

In Escape the Backrooms, you may notice the lack of a health bar. That is because the creatures of the backrooms are far too dangerous – they’ll slaughter you with one strike. However, one metric that you’ll have to be careful of is sanity. Your sanity will be slowly slipping, and it’ll be up to you to make sure you don’t go insane. Here is how to keep your sanity in Escape the Backrooms.

What is Sanity is Escape the Backrooms?

In Escape the Backrooms you’ll be dealing with more than just monsters beyond your imagination. You’ll be dealing with your own mind. When you open your inventory (press ‘I’), then you’ll be brought up a menu with some important features. Your inventory will help you manage what items you have in your hand and pockets.

You inventory will also have a bar on the right with a brain in it. This bar is your sanity. Being exposed to the backrooms for prolonged periods of time is traumatic, and so as you progress the game, each level will drain your sanity, some more than others. You can check the computer files for each level to see the risk of sanity depletion.

As long as you keep stocked up with it, you’ll be just fine.
