How to Escape the Lobby in Escape the Backrooms

These fluorescent lights are killing me...

The Lobby, also known as Level 0, is for lack of a better word the “mascot” of the infamous Backrooms. It’s a seemingly endless maze of chipped yellow wallpaper, buzzing fluorescent lights, and unsettlingly damp carpets. It’s not a place you want to spend any extended amount of time for a variety of reasons, so let’s go ahead and get out of there. Here’s how to escape the Lobby in Escape the Backrooms.

While the endless yellow rooms of the Lobby seem random, there is actually a tangible pattern to them that you can follow to freedom. The first thing you need to do when you start the game is to get your bearings, and you’re gonna do that by finding a lone, flickering light.

When you spawn in, take a look to your immediate right and immediate left. If you see a dark, unlit passageway down one way, you want to go the other way, which should lead you to the flickering light. If you’re lucky, you could actually spawn right near the flickering light, too. In either case, once you find the flickering light, follow that hallway all the way to the end, and take your first right. Follow that hall until you can only turn left, then from there, take the first right and go until you’re forced to take a left again.

With any luck, you should find a wide, open room with a single passage forward, past which should be an even bigger room with a checkerboard-patterned floor. Watch your step, as you can fall through the unfilled holes. At the far end of this room, you should find a hole in the ceiling with a ladder leading up and out of the Lobby.

Incidentally, at any time while exploring the Lobby, you may encounter a shadowy creature. You’ll need to make a hasty retreat in that case, but make sure not to lose your bearings. Try to remember the patterns of the wall layouts so that when you give the creature the slip, you can quickly retrace your steps and get back on track.
