How Does Breeding Work in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

Instead of dumping two of your compatible Pokémon off at a Daycare, all you have to do to get your Pokémon to breed in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is have a picnic! As long as you have at least one female Pokémon and one male Pokémon in the same Egg group on your team, you’ll be eligible to find free Pokémon Eggs every time you have a Picnic. If you have a specific Pokémon that you want to give you an Egg, make sure it’s on your team when you set up your picnic.

To get your Pokémon to breed, make sure to have frequent, long Picnics while you’re out exploring. To pass the time during Picnics, you can bathe them, make some sandwiches, or play with them. To check to see if your Pokémon have made an Egg, walk up to the basket at the end of the picnic table and interact with it; if your Pokémon have made an Egg, it will be in the basket. Once your Pokémon have made the Egg, all you need to do to obtain it is take it out of the basket (if your team is full, it will be sent to the Boxes, where you’ll need to retrieve it if you want to hatch it).

How to Hatch Your Pokémon Eggs in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Although the breeding process in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is much different than in previous Pokémon games, the Egg hatching process is still very much the same. All you need to do to hatch your Pokémon Eggs is add them to your team and walk around for a while (riding Koraidon and Miraidon also works); your Pokémon Egg will hatch on its own once you’ve walked a certain number of steps.
