  3. Select a resolution and tap on Customize
  4. Click on Create Custom Resolution
  5. Enter your custom Horizontal pixels and Vertical lines
  6. Set the Refresh rate (Hz) to whatever your monitor supports

Once you have your new stretched resolution set for your NVIDIA or AMD video card, you’ll need to navigate to your Fortnite config folder. Press Windows Key + R and type %appdata%. Press the OK button, and navigate to the following folder

AppData\Local\FortniteGame\Saved\Config\WindowsClient\GameUserSettings.ini

You can open the file with the Windows notepad or any other text editor. Edit the following lines to match your new stretched resolution settings:

  • ResolutionSizeX=1920
  • ResolutionSizeY=1080
  • LastUserConfirmedResolutionSizeX=1920
  • LastUserConfirmedResolutionSizeY=1080

Save the file and then set it to read-only so Fortnite cannot revert these changes. To set the GameUserSettings.ini file to read-only, right-click on it and go to properties. Check the box at the bottom of the General tab that says Read-only, click Apply, and then click OK.

Test the changes by launching Fortnite. You may notice some stretched bars on the loading screen.

Here are some of the most popular stretched resolutions in Fortnite:

  • 1820×1080
  • 1680×1050
  • 1440×1080

Most professional Fortnite competitive players use a stretched resolution of either 1820×1080 or 1680×1050.

Why should you use stretched resolution in Fortnite?

There are many reasons why someone may prefer using a stretched resolution over native ones. Some players may prefer the look of a stretched resolution due to the larger size of players and objects. Although the characters may appear more prominent on the screen, their hitboxes are still the same size, but it may make it easier for you to aim.

However, there are some other advantages, such as higher or more consistent frames per second and better visibility.
