In Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2, you have likely noticed players driving around in modded vehicles. Vehicle mods can include off-road tires and the heavy-duty cow catcher. The cow catcher is multi-purpose, as you can also use it as a deployable cover. This guide will explain everything you need to know about the cow catcher, including how to use it and where to find one.
What is a Cow Catcher in Fortnite?
A Cow Catcher is a type of vehicle mod in Fortnite you can use to mod your car or create cover for yourself. The cow catcher allows you to ram through pretty much anything when placed on your vehicle. Quickly ram through barriers, trees, rocks, and more. You can also throw the cow catcher in front of you if you need some cover in the heat of battle. Throwing it in front of you deploys a wall with 800 HP, and makes for a nice head glitch spot.
To use the cow catcher, and any vehicle mod for that matter, pick up the item and throw it at the vehicle you want to mod. Of course, you need to pick a vehicle that does not already have one attached. There’s, unfortunately, no way to stack multiple cow catchers on one vehicle. One thing to note is that you can use both the cow catcher and off-road tires at the same time.
Where to Find a Cow Catcher
Vehicle mods like the cow catcher are found all over the map in Fortnite, but one great location to check is gas stations. The workshop in a gas station usually has some vehicle mods you can pick up and throw onto whatever vehicle you’re driving. Check inside the red toolboxes at any gas station, and you will likely find yourself some off-road tires or a cow catcher.

There are gas stations at the following Fortnite locations:
