One important thing to note about Fortnite’s new Charge Shotgun is that it shoots when you release the trigger. You hold down the fire button to charge it and release it to shoot when the charge is full. The gauge on the back of the weapon indicates when the charge is max. Holding the trigger down longer results in a more powerful charge and more damage.

A lot of players are not happy with the charge time on this weapon, as it takes around three seconds to charge it fully. When looking at the damage numbers, however, the green charge shotgun does 85 body damage without charge. That means you’re going to drop most people in two uncharged body shots with this new weapon.

The Charge Shotgun comes in five different rarities, including common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. The weapon holds three rounds max and takes just over five seconds to reload. Legendary Charge Shotgun takes a little under five seconds to reloads. As with all shotguns, this weapon excels in close quarters combat and is an excellent secondary weapon to run alongside a rifle.

It is yet to be determined if players will continue to use this weapon through Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3. Will the Charge Shotgun become a highly used weapon in the current meta? Search for one in your games and test it out to see how you feel about it.
