Escape From The Red Planet is a tower defense game set on Mars, where you’ll be defending the terminus from waves of insectoid martians. There are a grand total of nine towers for you to put up using solar power, each with their own uses and drawbacks. You’d better get familiar with them all. Here’s every tower in Escape From The Red Planet.

These towers occupy the 1st slot in a lane, the one closest to you. Only one of these can be built per lane, so choose carefully!
- Blaster Tower – Costing 3 solar power, this is your most basic tower. You will rely on this heavily during the early game but less so as more viable options present themselves. Moderate ammunition and moderate fire rate, this tower will reliably take down weaker martians in one lane. Whilst it’s a cheap fix if you’re inundated, it will prove ineffective against stronger martians in higher quantities.
- Aerial Tower – Costing 3 solar power, this tower is the only tower that can target the flying martians. This tower will take down flying martians in two hits and can target adjacent lanes, making them essential if you are fending off an onslaught of flying martians. Most times you can fend them off with your blaster just fine, but some levels and moments will require extra coverage. Moderate fire rate and good ammunition, this tower will reliably cover three lanes from flying martian attacks.
- Bomber Tower – Costing 4 solar power, this tower is the only effective tower against swarming yellow martians. With a low fire rate and moderate ammunition, this tower’s projectiles are the only ones to affect a large radius. You will be relying on this tower to clear the swarms of yellow, weaker martians, and to fight off spawner martians. Targeting three lanes, make sure to position this tower perfectly to clear off as many swarm martians as possible.
- Mega Tower – Costing a whopping 5 solar power, this tower is definitely the most versatile in the game. With high ammunition and high fire rate, this turret mows down martians like no one’s business. This will be very effective counters against forcefield martians and any chunky boss martian, as it throws an onslaught of projectiles down one lane. It also reliably clears lanes of lesser martians.
- Big Time Tower – The most expensive tower in the game, costing 6 solar power. This meaty turret will cover three lanes, and will slowly shoot off high-damage rockets. Fantastic to countering bosses, this tower will obliterate higher-profile targets. However, the high cost and low ammunition will require to place this tower with care. Don’t let it get distracted by lesser martians.

These towers occupy the 2nd slot in a lane, in front of the 1st slot. Only one of these can be built per lane and will provide extra defensive bonuses.
- Barricade – Costing 1 solar power, the Barricade will prevent martians from progressing in their lanes, but under enough damage will break. Won’t prevent the flying martians, however. Whilst it does a great job at hampering the blue rapid martians from overwhelming you, the yellow swarm martians will mow a barricade down in an instant. At least it’s cheap.
- Explosive Barricade – Costing 2 solar power, the Explosive Barricade does exactly what it says on the tin. Upon contact with a martian, it will explode, dealing high damage to nearby martians in that lane. These defences can single handedly save your run, but it does mean that martians are right on your doorstep. Placing these on high-concentrated lanes is a must.
- Turbine – Costing 1 solar power, the turbine is exactly what you need to stop those flying martians. It will flow down all flying martians in a lane, making taking them out easy work. Would be recommended to have these on lanes without any Aerial Tower coverage to give you more time before taking them out yourself.
- Mini Turret – Costing 2 solar power, this Mini Turret is a dream come true in Escape From The Red Planet. Although it has minimal ammunition, this tower packs a punch and provide a lane with a second shooting tower. If you’re in a pinch, throwing up a Mini Turret could save your run, alongside providing cover fire on a lane with an Aerial Turret.
