Diablo Immortal: How to Play Co-Op Multiplayer

The game incentivizes you to party up with other players.

After being announced way back in 2018, Diablo Immortal, the free-to-play mobile-based midpoint between Diablo II and Diablo III, is finally slated for release this week. While most recent Diablo games have had full online multiplayer functionality, Diablo Immortal is slated to put a little more emphasis on player co-op. If you’re hoping on getting a game going at release, it might help to already have an idea of what you’re doing. Here’s how to play co-op multiplayer in Diablo Immortal.

Diablo Immortal: How to Play Co-Op Multiplayer

While you are able to play through Diablo Immortal’s dungeons by yourself if you so choose, the game does incentivize you to party up with other players. For one thing, many hands make light work; you’ll just generally have an easier time getting through the game if you do it with buddies. More importantly, though, partying up will give you a bonus for any items, resources, and experience you earn while playing, which means you’re guaranteed to earn more than you would be playing alone.

So how can you actually play with other people? Generally, there are three avenues:

  1. Proximity Party
  2. Warbands
  3. Clans

Proximity Party

Diablo Immortal prides itself on its easy drop-in-drop-out multiplayer systems. Forming a party, even with a bunch of random players, is super easy. Players who are looking for a party or someone to join an existing party will typically stand by the entrance to one of the game’s dungeons. If you want to join up, just walk up to them and you’ll get a prompt to invite them, or request to join if it’s an established party. Easy!

Warbands

Want to form a more consistent adventuring party? Warbands are kind of like official parties, good for when you want to go dungeon-crawling with the same crew every time. You can have up to 8 players in one Warband, and playing them will yield even greater rewards than regular co-op. Once you make your way to the Westmarch zone, you can speak to an NPC to get access to the Warband camp, where you can invite players and coordinate.

Clans

Has your circle of friends gotten too big for a Warband? Time to expand into a full-scale Clan! Clans are large-scale coalitions of players, with one Clan able to host up to 150 players at once. Clan members work together to escalate the Clan’s status in the world, as well as unlock Clan Achievements. You can apply to join a Clan from the menu found by pressing the button at the top-left of your screen. Or, if you don’t see any Clans you like, you can start your own and invite other players from the same menu, though this will cost you 100,000 Gold.

Diablo Immortal will likely have a thriving online community as soon as it launches, so make sure to form your alliances as soon as possible! Don’t wanna get left out of all of the loot, after all.
