Diablo 2 Resurrected players may be wondering why their characters are gone or missing, and there’s a good explanation. Before you ask, no, they have not been deleted, and there is likely no problem with your game client. We’ll go into some more detail about why this happens in the section below.

If you are missing your characters upon logging into Diablo 2 Resurrected, it’s because the online servers are currently undergoing maintenance. You can check the official Diablo or Blizzard Customer Support Twitter accounts for more information on the matter. 

Your Diablo 2 Resurrected characters are not deleted, gone, or missing, so there is no need to panic. The official message for Blizzard maintenance typically provides a timeframe when you can expect the servers to be unavailable. There is no way to access your character data between the maintenance hours if the online servers are down, and that’s why you see a blank screen or characters.

So, no, there is no issue specific to your account, and nobody gained access to your account and deleted your characters (most likely). You can toggle to offline mode, if you like, and make or continue your progress on other characters there.

How to check for Diablo 2 Resurrected Server Maintenance

You can check a few places for any ongoing server maintenance or scheduled downtime in Diablo 2 Resurrected. First, there is usually a disclaimer inside the Battle.net client. This is visible if you go to the Diablo 2 Resurrected page via Battle.net on PC. You can also check the official BlizzardCS or Diablo accounts for any messages.

Sometimes, there is unplanned maintenance, in which case there is no announcement until after the maintenance is underway. In that case, it can be a bit confusing as to why you can no longer connect or see your characters.
