Dead Space Remake Impossible Mode Tips and Tricks

In the midst of horror, all you need is a man to yell "pew pew" at monsters to make it all ok

Dead Space Remake offers players to attempt the game on the hardest difficulty, titled ‘Impossible’. In this, players will face the same damage output from enemies, with scarcer resources such as ammo and med packs. However, its real challenge lies in the permadeath. This means that should you die during the playthrough, you will have to restart the game to try Impossible Mode again. Whilst you have one save slot, there is no auto-save so if you die you will have to restart the entire game once again. If you reduce the difficulty at any point, Impossible Mode is removed and you will not obtain the unique armor and Hand Cannon. These are our tips on how to complete Impossible Mode in Dead Space Remake.

Beat the Game at Least Once

First of all, you should not attempt this Mode unless you have previously completed the game. You should teach yourself the map layout, the best way to take down different Necromorph Types and the fastest route to each location on the map. Familiarise yourself with the hardest Chapters, where you may have got stuck and what you can do to limit the challenges in these areas. Try to play through the game as if you have no ammo to begin with. Choose when is the most appropriate times to fight as your ammo will truly be limited in Impossible Mode. The best thing you can do is save your ammo for any quick time events. What we mean by this is if you are grabbed by a Necromorph and need ammo to get out of the situation.

We also recommend playing the game twice. The first is to beat on Normal or Hard if you are that type of player. The second is to play through the game on Hard, saving the game and exiting to load into Impossible Mode that you are running throughout your Hard Mode playthrough. This means that you can play through the same Chapter twice, after learning what you can do better on in the Impossible Mode. This will also be the most fresh take you can do as you will have just beaten the Chapter on Hard Mode before going back into Impossible. Ignore Side Quests aside from gaining Full Clearance obtained through the Captain’s Nest in Chapter 4.

Utilize that Save Slot

The next tip we have is to save the game whenever you get the chance to. Whilst you have a save slot available to use, make sure that you actually overwrite your saves as you make progress. This is crucial as the game can bug out at any given moment, ruining your run. If you have completed the game on Hard Mode, you should be able to easily beat it on Impossible Mode. The only addition is the permadeath. But with the ability to overwrite your saves, make sure that you utilize this in case of any in-game crashes.

Whilst you have a save spot there in case of any crashes, you should remain completely alert of your surroundings. To know what moments in the game do you get ambushed by Necromorphs. If you feel as though you are about to die, if you utilized the save function, you should exit the game as soon as you feel that you are going to receive a game over. Whilst this would be classified as cheating the permadeath feature, you should do this as a last resort if you are about to die.

Use your Environment

Following on from this, you should not use ammo unless you have to on any of the regular appearing Necromorph. Such as Slashers or Dividers. Instead, use your environment as a means to kill enemies. You should stomp on enemies whenever you get an opening. Use the Stasis and Kinesis abilities whenever possible to halt your enemies movements, allowing you to get off clean shots on their limbs. Or to throw explosive or heavy objects at the standard Necromorph that will kill them on impact. The best combo you can do is to use Stasis, shoot the limbs and then during Stasis, stomp on the bodies until they are dead.

Choose your Weapons Carefully

Use a maximum of 3 guns through your entire playthrough. We recommend staying with the Plasma Cutter if you want to only use one weapon throughout your entire playthrough. That way you can use Power Nodes to fully upgrade them, increasing their performance and power. The drop rate of ammo for the weapon you are carrying will increase. You will obtain far more ammo this way instead of using a wide range of weapons in your playthrough. Speaking of upgrades, you should prioritize your Health within your Armor upgrades whenever you find Power Nodes. This will be crucial in your survival if you ever find yourself cornered.

Upgrade Health and Damage

With that being said, you should teach yourself the locations of the Power Nodes across each Chapter. Which are the easiest to grab and not out of your way from progressing quickly and safely through the story. That way you can pick up many, use at the Benches and upgrade your Health and weapon damage. You should also remember that whilst this is a permadeath mode, you should not try to speedrun the game. We recommend players learn the layout and best way to get to each Chapter but we do not advise you to try and speedrun your playthrough as it will likely lead to mistakes.
