How to Make Torches in Core Keeper

If you’re first starting Core Keeper, you may not have known you need to press Tab to access the crafting menu. This basic crafting menu is where you can make the bare exploration necessities. Items include torches, wood pickaxes, wood shovels, and the basic workbench. You will also notice your character profile and inventory storage.

Now that you know how to make torches, you might be wondering if they have any other uses outside of lighting a small area. Core Keeper is unique in that you don’t really need a pickaxe to break down walls and mine. You can actually equip your torch by dragging it into your character window and mine that way. The benefit of using a torch to mine is that you will always be able to see what you’re doing.

The alternative is mining by hand, which means you will need to place down torches and waste resources constantly to see what you’re doing. When you mine with your torch, you will always be able to see what’s going on within a small radius of your character.

Aside from torches, you will come across blue glow tulips, which glow in the dark. These are also great light sources. You can leave them be or dig them up and put them in a pot in your base for a more aesthetic light source.
