Sons of the Forest carries on a lot from its predecessor, The Forest. From enemies, to weapons, to items, even to the atmospheric terror. One item that many fans are after, however, is the boat. The Forest featured boats and rafts that the players could sail down rivers and bodies of water. Is this feature in SOns of the Forest? Can you build boats?

Can you build boats in Sons of the Forest?

For many players, boats and rafts would be a great method of transportation in Sons of the Forest, and would elevate the gaming experience considerably. Unfortunately, however, boats and rafts and any such structure is not in the game. Many items and structures were carried on, but at present you cannot build boats or rafts in Sons of the Forest.

That’s not to say they’ll never be in the game, however. Sons of the Forest is still fresh out the oven, and the devs may have content updates planned that could include boats. Until then, however, your only mode of transportation is your own two feet and turtle shelling down steep declines.

And before you get any ideas, don’t think that you’ll be able to use the boats and rafts to sail away from the island and free yourself. Before you know it, it’ll be Mother Nature herself preventing your exit, through ferocious sharks, freak weather, or harsh waves. These boats will only really be useful for traversing bodies of water.
