Can You Befriend the Cannibals in Sons of the Forest?

I don’t know about you, but the last thing I would ever want to do in a desolate forest is play nice with the cannibal cult out for my blood. It not only sounds like a breach of boundaries waiting to happen, but also … there has to be more than a few OSHA violations in there. But, despite both of those equally terrible things, there are some players who are curious if you can befriend the cannibals in Sons of the Forest.

Can You Befriend the Cannibals in Sons of the Forest?

So, it’s less that you can befriend the cannibals, and more that you can make them less aggressive toward you. And, to be honest, that can sometimes be enough. To make the cannibals more passive toward the player, you’ll need to acquire one of two kinds of masks. It looks like there are red masks and gold masks, and it can be surmised the difference is the level of effect on the cannibals.

In order to acquire a red mask, you’ll first need to nab some resin, which is used to print said mask. On the flip side, gold masks can be acquired somewhere in one of the underground bunkers. If the theories are correct and the gold mask is a more effective variant of the red mask, then finding it will definitely be worth the trouble.
