Can Sons of the Forest Run on a Steam Deck?

Can the next Forest game run on Steam Deck?

If there’s one game that’s dominated the gaming landscape, specifically for streamers over the last few years, it’s been none other than Endnight Games’ own survival horror title, The Forest. A game that has players living on a deadly, horrific island following a terrible plane crash, The Forest has been a huge gaming phenomenon because of its unique and unsettling premise.

But with its sequel releasing, Sons of the Forest, many players are wondering if it’ll be playable on Valve’s Steam Deck. Well, will it? Today, let’s talk about whether or not Sons of the Forest will run on a Steam Deck!

Can Sons of the Forest Run on a Steam Deck?

When it comes to answering whether or not you can actually play Sons of the Forest on a Steam Deck, it’s not a yes or no answer, at least at this time. If you head to the Sons of the Forest Steam page, the game does not state its Steam Deck compatibility at all. But this could be a good thing, as the game is only launching into early access at this point and has a strong possibility of being treated to it down the road.

And it is worth noting that the game does in fact offer full controller support, giving players a glimmer of hope that it’ll be optimized to play on the Steam Deck as well. Additionally, the Sons of Forest’s predecessor, The Forest, currently holds a “Playable” ranking in terms of Steam Deck compatibility.

This means that The Forest can run on a Steam Deck, though there could be issues when it comes to things such as the launcher/setup tool and that text might be difficult to read. Hopefully, Endnight Games takes compatibility further with Sons of the Forst, making the game fully set up to prevail on the Steam Deck by the time the game gets out of early access.

Well, now you should have a better understanding of whether or not Sons of the Forest can in fact run on Steam Decks!
