Best Void Hunter Build for Destiny 2 Lightfall

Gyfalcon mains stay winning.

We’re going over the best Void Hunter build for Destiny 2 Lightfall. I’ve been a Hunter main since day one of Destiny 1 – and when I say I’ve never seen a Hunter build as powerful as this one, I mean it. Thanks to one little Fragment added in Lightfall, this already S-tier build has been catapulted into the stratosphere.

I’ll run you through everything you need to know about this Void Hunter build, including what Aspects and Fragments to run – on top of some weapon recommendations to try out.

Oh, and be warned – this is a Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk build. If you don’t have that Void Hunter Exotic, stop what you’re doing and go get one.

Aspects

  • Vanishing Step

Vanishing Step is our first Aspect, and it’s the only one of the two that could be swapped out. If you prefer the instant Invisibility offered up by Trapper’s Ambush – go for it. However, I find that Step is more reliable, and it allows you to synergize it with Gambler’s Dodge to gain Invis from dodging, and refund your melee energy.

  • Stylish Executioner

Stylish Executioner is needed to make this build work – no two ways about it. With this Aspect, defeating Void-debuffed targets will allow you to proc Invisibility. You have a million and one ways to debuff with Void, but your go-to will be your grenades combo’d with a Fragment we’ll talk about a little later.

Fragments

  • Echo of Cessation.

I’ve been running this Void build since Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk came out, and Echo of Cessation is a new addition for Lightfall. I used to run Echo of Remenants for an increased duration on my Vortex Grenades, but this Fragment is a must-use, and I wasn’t willing to replace any of the others.

This Fragment spawns Void Breachs any time you kill a Volatile-afflicted enemy. Yeah, you read that right. To put this in old-school terms, killing a Volatile enemy spawns an Elemental Well or its modern equivalent.

When you’re rocking Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk – everything you kill will be Volatile, so you can see why this is so valuable.

  • Echo of Undermining.

Echo of Undermining is going to allow your grenades to Weaken targets, thus allowing them to trigger Stylish Executioner and Invisibility in the process.

To get the most out of this Fragment, make sure you’re using Vortex Grenades. These will quickly become one of your go-to ways to proc Invisibility with this Void Hunter build for Lightfall, so make the most of them.

  • Echo of Persistence

Echo of Persistence is one of the highest-value Fragments this build can utilize. It makes your Invisibility, Devour, and Overshields last longer.

You’ll naturally have both Invisibility and Devour with this build, and if you run Repulsor Brace – that accounts for all three buffs. So, you’ll be getting an extended duration on all three, which is noticeable and something you’ll miss when you don’t have it, especially for Devour.

  • Echo of Starvation

Echo of Starvation used to proc Devour when you picked up an Orb of Power. Now, it triggers when you pick up an Orb or a Void Breach. Echo of Cessation is going to be generating a ludicrous number of Void Breaches, meaning this Fragment got a stealth buff with Lightfall.

Orb generation used to be easy enough to maintain thanks to the Siphon helmet perks. These are still great, and I still run them, but Breachs are going to be your main source of Devour from here on out.

Gear

Last but not least – we have to talk about gear. There’s only one piece of armor to discuss here, but I do have two weapon recommendations for you.

  • Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk – Exotic Chest piece

For this entire build to work, you need Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk. This Exotic chest piece will give your weapons Volatile rounds every time you come out of Invisibility. Thanks to Stylish Executioner, these Volatile Rounds can trigger more Invisibility, resulting in an infinite feedback loop that theoretically makes it impossible for you to die in any add-filled encounter.

When you through Cessation on top of that, you’re now generating Void Breaches constantly, while maintaining a near-100% uptime on your Invis. The power speaks for itself.

Aside from Exotics, here are two weapons I recommend pairing with this Destiny 2 Lightfall Void Hunter build:

  • Funnelweb.
  • The Hero’s Burden.

Provided you have the necessary god rolls for each weapon, these will be your go-to primaries. Both are Void SMGs, meaning they’ll benefit from Gyrfalcon’s and are already top-tier by weapon archetype alone. If you’re running Grandmasters or Master Raids, you can swap these out for a Veles-X with Repulsor Brace.

On Funnelweb, you’re looking for Subsistence/Adrenaline Junkie. This will keep your ammo economy healthy, while also letting the weapon hit like an absolute truck.

In activities where damage output is less important than survivability, you’ll want a Hero’s Burden with Feeding Frenzy and Repulsor Brace. This will give you an Overshield anytime you kill a Volatile enemy – which is every enemy for you, further increasing your ability to survive situations that other Guardians couldn’t.

That wraps it up for this best Void Hunter build for Destiny 2 Lightfall. This build was cracked before – but thanks to Echo of Cessation, it’s now absolutely nuts. For more Destiny 2 build guides like this, follow Gamer Journalist on Facebook. If there’s a trick in the META, we’ll find it.
