Texture packs and mods are an excellent way to improve on an already fantastic game like Terraria. Re-Logic’s action-adventure sandbox game has had its final major update back in May of 2020, but the community has been hard at work improving various aspects of the game. One of the more popular mods is texture packs, which attempt to add some small tweaks to make the game look better or cater to different audiences. Here’s a look at the best texture packs for Terraria Journey’s End.
How to install Texture Packs in Terraria Journey’s End
To install texture packs in Terraria, download the zip file and move the file to your Terraria/Resource Packs folder. Next, open your game and select Texture Packs from the menu. You can enable a texture pack by clicking on the red button with the right arrow for any given pack.
Best Terraria Texture Packs
Here are the best texture packs in Terraria:
- The Calamity Texture Pack
- Better Ambiance Texture Pack
- PRIME Texture Pack
- Minecraft Texture Pack
The Calamity Texture Pack
Here’s one of the more comprehensive packs available for Terraria Journey’s End. The Calamity Texture Pack improves vanilla sprites and updates them to higher-quality, more eye-pleasing versions. There are over one thousand sprites for tiles, weapons, and bosses. You can visit their Discord here for more updates and discussion.
Better Ambiance Texture Pack
Here’s a texture pack that’s a bit different than some of the others. What started as a texture pack to make the game more vibrant, the Better Ambiance Texture Pack evolved far beyond that. You will notice new water textures, a more detailed background (especially in the Ocean Biome), and a brighter and more detailed sky.
PRIME Texture Pack
The PRIME Texture Pack by CoconutAdam includes over 700 textures and has one of the most active communities out of all the packs we’ve seen thus far. It is the second-most complete texture pack behind Calamity and aims to keep the vanilla feel of Terraria while making subtle changes to improve the aesthetic. You can check out the thread here or visit their Discord for more updates.
Minecraft Texture Pack for Terraria
For Minecraft fans out there, you can use this texture pack to feel a little more like home. The Minecraft Texture Pack for Terraria aims to make the game look more like Minecraft while still keeping true to the vanilla game. It has an active developer and is updated regularly. Check out their Discord here for more updates and information about the pack.
