Best Story Order for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

There are many orders in which you can tackle Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s story, but there’s only one best way to do it. There are three main parts to Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet’s stories: Victory Road, Starfall Street, and Path of Legends. You’ll need to complete all three to get to the end of the game, which is honestly a lot harder than it sounds, especially if you don’t know which bosses to take down first.

It’s best to work through each storyline simultaneously, rather than completing them one by one (for example, you wouldn’t want to try to complete the Victory Road storyline before tackling the Starfall Street storyline). With that in mind, here is a list of all the bosses you should defeat chronologically in the game, regardless of which storyline they belong to:

  • (Victory Road) Katy: Cortondo Gym Leader – Minimum Recommended Level: 14
  • (Path of Legends) Klawf: The Stony Cliff Titan – Minimum Recommended Level: 15
  • (Victory Road) Brassius: Artazon Gym Leader – Minimum Recommended Level: 16
  • (Starfall Street) Giacomo: Team Star Dark Crew Leader – Minimum Recommended Level: 21
  • (Victory Road) Iono: Levincia Gym Leader – Minimum Recommended Level: 23
  • (Path of Legends) Bombirdier: The Open Sky Titan – Minimum Recommended Level: 25
  • (Starfall Street) Mela: Team Star Fire Crew Leader – Minimum Recommended Level: 26
  • (Victory Road) Kofu: Cascarrafa Gym Leader – Minimum Recommended Level: 29
  • (Path of Legends) Orthworm: The Lurking Steel Titan – Minimum Recommended Level: 30
  • (Starfall Street) Atticus: Team Star Poison Crew Leader – Minimum Recommended Level: 32
  • (Victory Road) Larry: Medali Gym Leader – Minimum Recommended Level: 35
  • (Victory Road) Ryme: Montenevera Gym Leader – Minimum Recommended Level: 41
  • (Victory Road) Tulip: Alfornada Gym Leader – Minimum Recommended Level: 44
  • (Path of Legends) Great Tusk/Iron Treads: The Quaking Earth Titan – Minimum Recommended Level: 45
  • (Victory Road) Grusha: Glaseado Gym Leader – Minimum Recommended Level: 47
  • (Starfall Street) Ortega: Team Star Fairy Crew Leader – Minimum Recommended Level: 50
  • (Path of Legends) Dondozo/Tatsugiri: The False Dragon Titan – Minimum Recommended Level: 55
  • (Starfall Street) Eri: Team Star Fighting Crew Leader – Minimum Recommended Level: 56
  • (Victory Road) Rika: Elite Four – Minimum Recommended Level: 57
  • (Victory Road) Poppy: Elite Four – Minimum Recommended Level: 58
  • (Victory Road) Larry: Elite Four – Minimum Recommended Level: 59
  • (Victory Road) Hassel: Elite Four – Minimum Recommended Level: 60
  • (Victory Road) Geeta: Current Champion – Minimum Recommended Level: 61
  • (Path of Legends) Arven – Minimum Recommended Level: 62
  • (Starfall Street) Penny – Minimum Recommended Level: 63
  • (Victory Road) Nemona – Minimum Recommended Level: 65

After you defeat Nemona, Penny, and Arven (and subsequently complete all three storylines), you’ll finally be able to travel to Area Zero, where many more tough battles will await you! If you’re strong enough to take on all the bosses on this list, however, you should breeze right through Area Zero, no problem.

There are many ways to go about tackling this game’s story, but this is definitely the best story order for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. If you defeat all of these in-game bosses in this order, you should have a much easier time progressing through the main story; you won’t have to worry about getting anything out of order, or about taking on a boss twice your level by accident.

Don’t feel bad if you’re having trouble taking on any of the bosses on this list, many of them are incredibly difficult and will take a few tries to defeat. If you feel like you need some extra help taking them down, check out Gamer Journalist’s boss guides for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet!
