Hogwarts Legacy, besides the main storyline, will offer a very interesting environment for you to explore and some pretty fun and unique encounters, like in some other open-world games. Whoever played Red Dead Redemption 2 or GTA V knows there are plenty of random encounters in those games and the developers of Hogwarts Legacy wanted to bring that same feeling to their players.
We went through all the interesting random encounters in this hit Harry Potter game and decided to present you with some of the most entertaining ones. Let’s dive in and look at what Hogwarts Legacy has in store for you!
Top Amusing Encounters in Hogwarts Legacy
Random encounters are spontaneous situations that will trigger anywhere in the game. Whether it’s Hogwarts castle or its surroundings, these in-game situations are here to create a more lively and realistic atmosphere. NPCs won’t be just mindlessly moving around to simulate real-life surroundings but instead will be talking to each other, getting into trouble, or just simply cracking jokes.

8. Meeting with a Dragon
While flying outside Hogwarts on your broom and exploring the world, there will be a chance for meeting seeing flying around. This random encounter maybe won’t mean much to some, but for us, it was an amazing experience as soon as we saw it. It brought that Harry Potter movie feel to the game and we even followed the dragon around to see what he was up to!
7. Balloon Student
While wandering around Hogwarts castle you can see some Slytherin students trying to down hold a levitating Ravenclaw student. As we learned from the original Harry Potter series, accidents with potions, spells, and some unique animals can cause pretty funny consequences.
The balloon student seems to have had a Billywig sting that will have him floating around for a week, and he is freaked out about it.
6. Relationship Problems
Ghosts are a big part of the Hogwarts Legacy game and there will be more than a few random encounters with them. However, one of the more amusing ones was the one where a woman ghost is holding an axe and is chasing what appears to be her misbehaving husband. They run through multiple rooms and you can follow them to hear the full dialogue and him trying to save his ghost life from her.
5. Peeves Trolling Students
A poltergeist Peeves is a character that will be familiar to those who have read the book but not to those who have only seen the movie. He is essentially a ghost that is a master of mischief and annoyance. You will be able to meet him throughout the game trolling and scaring students with his stunts and jump-scares. When he is not trying to scare someone he is attempting to set students against each other.
4. George the Sheep
In the nursery, you will be able to find a student and nurse Blainey arguing over a sheep. When you approach them, you hear that the student claims that the sheep is actually his friend George who had an unfortunate accident and had been turned into this farm animal. The nurse doesn’t trust him and wants him to remove the sheep from the school. After a while, the very George who is supposedly a sheep turns up at the nursery and the student that brought the sheep stands amazed as he was convinced that his friend had been turned into a sheep.
3. Ghost Ballroom Dance
While discovering some lower parts of the castle, at one time you will have a chance of stumbling upon a real ghost ballroom dance. Dozens of ghosts from the castle have gathered to dance and enjoy each other’s company. One of them, a beheaded ghost carrying his head in his arms, is visibly nervous about asking a girl ghost for a dance. His friends convince him to gather the courage and do it, only for his body to go and dance with the girl while his head is upsettingly sitting at the table watching.
2. Knight’s Fury
Two knights, or shall we say armor statues, that are standing next to each other will come to life when you pass by them. The knight statue on the right seems upset about something and hits the left one. The next time you pass by it hits him even stronger, while the third time you visit them the knight statue on the right goes all out on the left one, breaking it to pieces with its mace.
1. Howler Away
There are surely more than two dozen situations where students are getting yelled at by a scary Howler letter on the school grounds. You can stand next to horrified students and listen to the messages they received. Howlers are iconic Harry Potter things featured in an iconic movie scene when Ron gets his from his furious mother. That’s why these random encounters are the ones that are probably the most interesting and valuable throughout the game.
