Demonologist Equipment Summary

Your equipment is an essential part of gameplay in Demonologist. Whilst most do not aid in your survival and do little to protect yourself from the wrath of the entity, thus resulting in a damaged sanity, Tools are crucial in collecting evidence towards your entity identification process. These are your only means of gaining knowledge against the entity you are facing. When collecting evidence, there is a specific set of equipment you should be using within every match in order to cross out spirit typings. The equipment available are:

  • Spirit Box – Communicate with the dead via your microphone, the entity will respond if it is a spirit that can communicate with the living.
  • EMF Detector – Detects the electromagnetic field in which the entity will produce via the archaic use of a cockroach.
  • UV Flashlight – Detects any fingerprints left behind by the entity.
  • Easel Canvas – Some entities enjoy painting, offer them a canvas to paint on and let their inner Van Gogh come out onto the page. I am sure they have some feelings they would like to express.
  • ESG Device – Temporarily catches a suspended state of the entity through a capture of energy, similar to a photograph.
  • Ectoplasma Glass – Detects traces of a entities presence through the visual mark. If recorded, the entity cannot ever be captured via any of the visual methods listed above.

Other equipment such as Candles and Photo Cameras are essential when you are attempting to exorcise the entity upon confirming its spirit type. At the basic level, players have the Tool List of: EMF, ESG, Flashlight, Easel Canvas, Ecto Glass, Spirit Box and UV Light. However if you are playing this on your own, some Tools are more important than others to have on you. Of course, if you are in a group of 4, you should divide your equipment up so that you have everything you could possibly need inside the haunted place.

The Importance of your Loadout

Whilst you are given a default list of Tools, you can purchase extra equipment or other Tools that you may need within a match. These are mostly Tools used as protection or to exorcise entities after you have gained money from correctly choosing the entity type. The safety Tools are the Crucifix, Candle and Sanity Pills. But if you are just getting started in Demonologist, you should prioritise other equipment within your Loadout first before these.

If you are playing with a group, you should designate 2 people to hold Flashlights. These are important for your sanity but they do not need to be held by everyone in the group. When looking at the Tools required for collecting evidence, you should start your search with the Spirit Box as if the entity communicates, you will be left with a total of 11 out of 24 entity types to choose from, cutting your list in half. Items such as the Thermometer are not essential for finding freezing temperatures as you can refer to your in-game breath for visual cues on this evidence.

Best Tools to Use in Demonologist

Using the Tools of the EMF and Ectoplasma Glass will allow help you in reducing the amount of types there are greatly, whether the evidence is recorded or if you need to cross this off the list. If the Ecto Glass records evidence, you know that the entity cannot be picked up on via the use of other Tools. Therefore in order of importance and therefore the best items in Demonologist are: Flashlight, Spirit Box, Ectoplasma Glass and finally EMF Reader. As this game is in Early Access, it is likely that this list will change due to the likelihood of updates, especially being a new Horror Game. But for now, these are the best items to use in Demonologist.
