With a max CP of 4724 and a base attack of 300, Shadow Mewtwo is poised to tear down just about any opponent no matter what move it uses, but if you’re in the mood for a little overkill, you can choose the best Charged Attack to properly optimize those killer stats.

Mewtwo has access to nine different Charged Attacks. The attacks and their types are as follows:
- Flamethrower (Fire)
- Ice Beam (Ice)
- Thunderbolt (Electric)
- Psychic (Psychic)
- Focus Blast (Fighting)
- Shadow Ball (Ghost, Elite TM)
- Hyper Beam (Normal, Elite TM)
- Psystrike (Psychic, Elite TM)
- Frustration (Normal, Shadow only)
The Best Choice
Taking all of these moves into consideration, including their base strengths versus energy consumption and the potential of STAB damage, the best choice of Charged Attack for Shadow Mewtwo is Psystrike. While its 90 damage isn’t the highest flat rate available, its energy consumption of -21.7 offsets that to give it the highest available DPS of 47. Plus, since it’s a Psychic move, you get STAB damage in the bargain.
However, since Psystrike is an Elite TM move, you may not have access to it. In this case, the second best choice would be either plain ol’ Psychic or, if you’re taking on Dark types, Focus Blast. The STAB damage from Psychic makes up for the lessened DPS, while Focus Blast helps to offset Mewtwo’s weakness to Dark-type moves.
Basically, as you may expect, the key to getting the best possible Shadow Mewtwo is to let it run wild with its Psychic moves. Hopefully, you won’t end up getting blown up like those scientists in the movie.
