Best Build to Defeat Strider in Armored Core 6

Searching for that crit damage

FromSoftware, perhaps best known for their incredibly challenging games that can result in backache from continuously use of the gamer lean and a bald head from excessive hair pulling. Regardless of whether or not you grew up with Armored Core, the game is set to challenge you from the get-go. Whilst this no clear formula in place unlike their Souls games which either favor the dodge roll or parrying system, Armored Core focusses more on movement alongside the continuous pressure submitted by your weaponry. With Strider being an incredibly tanky boss to face and a gigantic machine that resembles something out of Shadow of the Colossus, coming face-to-face with it very early on in the game can be overwhelming. For this reason, this is Vincent’s guide on the best build to use against Strider in Armored Core 6.

What Build to Use Against Strider in Armored Core 6

Strider is met very early on in Armored Core 6, specifically in Chapter 1: Mission 7. Titled as a Mining Ship, Strider is found in the middle of a desolated area that is currently ongoing the affects of a sandstorm, likely from the Ship’s mechanics. Your objectives entail what part of the Strider you need to target at once, from the Leg Units to the Generators and finally the Eye. The power of the Strider really comes from the laser and pulsing EMP attack. You should spend a ton of time practising dodging mid-air and boosting until you reach your maximum height to then begin your attacks. As you will have your loadout picked before heading into the Mission and cannot change this mid-battle, we recommend using either a long-range or melee weapon. These are catered towards two different playstyles however.

Due to this boss fight taking part quite early in Armored Core 6, you should use weapons such as the MA-J-200 RANSETSU-RF (Right) and the HI-32: BU-TT/A (Left) equipped for your Arm Units. These will give you the long and close range weapons needed for taking out the Leg Unit, Generators and Eye against the Strider. This boss fight is more about movability to increase your survivability, you do not need to worry about defences so long as you dodge at the effective times. This should be done in moments where you are being targeted by the laser and the 1-on-1 fight between yourself and the Eye at the end of the fight. Alternatively, you can use the BML-G1/P20MLT-04 for a Missile Launcher that is more appropriate for players who prefer to auto-lock feature rather than having to aim whilst avoiding incoming fire.
