What is the Battlefield 2042 Battlehub?

Judging by the footage shown at E3, Battlefield 2042 will be a much larger game in scale compared to its predecessors. The gigantic map shown in the trailer, not to mention all of the disasters and collapsing buildings besieging it, indicate that it’ll be quite the spectacle. If, however, you’d prefer a more traditional Battlefield experience, that giant map may seem a bit off-putting. Luckily, thanks to a recent leak, you may have some old-school stuff to look forward to. So, what is the Battlefield 2042 Battlehub?

Since its initial announcement, one of Battlefield 2042’s game modes has been kept under lock and key. Details were slated to be shared during the EA Play Live presentation on July 22nd, but it seems someone left the door open. A leaker by the name of Tom Henderson, who has correctly predicted multiple aspects of the game prior, leaked the details about the secret game mode, apparently named “Battlehub.”

What is the Battlefield 2042 Battlehub?

According to Henderson’s info, Battlehub will be the “ultimate sandbox experience,” and will include remastered versions of multiple maps from across the Battlefield series. Since these maps are obviously much smaller than the gigantic storm map we saw in the E3 trailer, it is unlikely that they’ll support the 128 concurrent players that the storm map did.

Instead, Battlehub will have a greater emphasis on smaller-scale skirmishes more in line with the previous games. The Specialists game mode, for example, will be returning as a part of Battlehub. In fact, you’ll supposedly be able to pick and choose what maps and gamemodes you want to have in your playlist, not unlike in Halo or Call of Duty.

Henderson also noted that Battlehub “will be updated with the Battle Pass Seasons that will also be coming to 2042, so I’m guessing that new weapons, new vehicles, new maps will be coming to the Battlefield Hub, from previous games, every time the season changes.”

Despite Henderson’s good track record and efforts to cross-check his info, he did admit that he’s not 100% sure about this stuff, so everyone should take it with a pinch of salt. We’ll find out if he was on the money at the EA Play Live event.
