Apex Legends Mobile has been a topic of discussion this year, and today, Chad Grenier, Game Director for Apex Legends, sheds some light on it in a blog post. According to Grenier, Respawn Entertainment is launching the first regional beta tests for Apex Legends later this month. As per EA’s most recent financial press release, the game has been seeing tremendous growth, and they hope to capitalize on this with a mobile version of their battle royale hit.
The initial regional tests are limited to a few thousand players in India and the Philippines. They plan to open this up to more regions and a more extensive player base throughout the year. So, what does this means for existing Apex Legends. Well, according to Grenier, “the best is yet to come for PC and console players.”
Today, Respawn Entertainment also reveals the first look into the most significant update for the title ever. You can check out the Apex Legends Stories from the Outlands “Northstar” trailer on YouTube:
Apex Legends Mobile Beta launches this month
The first wave of Apex Legends Mobile beta tests begins with India and the Philippines in Spring 2021. The test is only available on Android devices to start before expanding to more regions, more players, and iOS. There will be a pre-register page some time down the line when they are ready for it.
Since Apex Legends Mobile is specifically designed for mobile devices, there will be no cross-play support with console or PC versions of the title.
Apex Legends mobile will remain free-to-play and never include any items that result in a gameplay advantage. Apex Legends Mobile will also have its own Battle Pass, collectible skins, and rewards.
” We’ve built a dedicated team here at Respawn filled with experts in mobile game development to lead the creation of Apex Legends Mobile, but it’s a collaborative effort with our established Apex Legends team and other partners.”
