Octopath Traveler 2 Differences

Octopath Traveler 2 is the sequel to Octopath Traveler 1 and it’s allowing new players to come and play the game. It’s not a continuation of a story. This is a game with a brand new storyline and brand new characters you can play. The story you play will change over time and the choices you made in the game will greatly impact your gameplay. There are a few other key differences the game features and here are some of them.

1. Day & Night Cycle

You can enjoy the game with a bit more realism as it has introduced a day and night cycle. Instead of dealing with mechanics similar to Animal Crossing, where you’d have to wait until night to play, you can switch between day and night. This will give you a cozy atmosphere and the graphics look stunning when you play it at night. The people you come across in the village will also react to it being night time or day time as well. Not only that, but path actions will change depending on the time of day.

2. Improved Graphics

We were expecting graphics to be improved but we weren’t prepared for these breathtaking scenes. The game is gorgeous. The graphics have been altered and its 2D models are stunning as they’re displayed in a HD setting. The game knows what type of game it wants to be and everything from the characters, animations, to graphics surrounding the villages look impeccable.

3. Boat Travel

Did you know you can travel on a boat in Octopath Traveler 2? Enjoy this new feature by traveling around Solistia on a boat. You can enjoy the improved graphics as you’re traveling and your teammates will follow you on their own little boat. You’ll be able to boat canoes and boats by navigating towards the pier. This helps you tremendously if you need to get somewhere that’s impossible to get to on foot.

4. New Jobs

Octopath Traveler 2 introduced a way to add secondary jobs by getting a license. There are a total of three licenses you can get in the game. Some of the jobs you’ve probably already seen from the original Octopath Traveler. For example, warrior, hunter, scholar, and dancer are all jobs you have seen before. The game introduces three new jobs you can learn and they are inventory, arcanist, and conjuror. An inventory is a secret job where you can gain skills by finding items to create Arkar’s inventions. An arcanist is a powerful secret job where you focus on light and dark magic. Lastly, the conjuror secret job focuses on elemental attacks similar to the sorcerer job.

5. Story Changes

This is probably the biggest change in the game and that has to be the story changes with the choices you make. You can determine which characters should follow your companion or make decisions on how your characters interact with the world around them. Be careful what you pick because every decision you make has consequences. Each traveler you bring on your journey will also gain access to latent powers that deal incredible damage. Be sure to keep on eye on which character you want to tag along on your journey.
