All Microtransactions in Diablo Immortal

Is Diablo Pay-to-Win? We hope not!

Diablo Immortal released as a mobile free-to-play game. With mobile games rising in popularity, it only made sense to release titles on a mobile platform. These games appeal to players who want to wind down after a long day and who have some spare time to play around. The appeal of mobile gaming is its free-to-play set up which allows players to enjoy all aspects of the game without having to pay a membership to unlock pers. The only downfall is that companies implement microtransactions, in-game purchases, to buy resources and other in-game items. Diablo Immortal has microtransactions and here’s a breakdown on all of them.

Transactions in Diablo Immortal

Loot Boxes

Loot boxes aren’t uncommon in gaming. Titles such as Overwatch and Call of Duty: Mobile have a feature where you can win certain items through luck. Some are designed as a box and when you click it you can get a random drop of an item. Diablo Immortal doesn’t have the traditional loot box’s, however, they do have what’s known as Elder Rifts & Crests, which is typically the same thing. Elder Rifts is an area players can go to fight monsters where the monsters drop rare items. Players can create parties to kill monsters for these items.

Crests are used to get legendary gems that can be purchased in the market place. These crests are items that help boost your chances to get these high-valued items. Legendary gems help to make your character stronger. Stronger character, easier fights. Enemies will have no problem dying if your stats are boosted. If you were to use legendary and rare crests it could greatly higher your chances to get legendary gems. To avoid that grind, players use eternal orbs or real money to buy crests.

Cosmetic Microtransactions

Customizing your character is a great form of expression. Mobile games and MMO games love having their players dress up and wear cool clothes. If you want to wear certain cosmetics in Diablo Immortal you’re going to need to buy the outfits. These use eternal orbs, or, you can pay real money for them.

Upgrading Microtransactions

Those pieces of armor you’re wearing and the weapons you’re wielding are going to need upgrades. You can’t have the same level of weapons for your entire play through. These upgrades require you to use rare materials such as glowing shards and reforge stones. The best way to grab them is by purchasing eternal orbs. When you spend $1 you can grab up to 100 eternal orbs.

Battle Pass

A battle pass is needed to guide a player to perform certain tasks to win rewards. It’s a way to do some extra progression. There are premium battle pass’s and free ones that offer their own prizes. The premium pass is $4.99, however, for $14.99 you get to “skip” the progression and instantly reach level 14 of the premium track.

Packs

Packs are common in mobile games and are designed to help a new player get ahead. For example, buying a beginners pack will give you 60 eternal orbs and a cosmetic weapon skin. Sometimes, a pack will be limited edition. A beginners pack on Diablo Immortals will cost you $9.99 to use.

Is Diablo Immortal Pay to Win?

Spending money to unlock certain parts of the game so you can advance with ease. This doesn’t sound very appealing. Most mobile games are finding ways to add microtransactions to coerce you to play the game without any hardships. Is Diablo Immortal doing this? Is it easier to advance in levels if you were to pay real money? Technically, no, it’s not pay-to-win but it does make getting certain upgrades difficult to acquire.
