Typically, trading Pokemon is something you do with your friends who bought the other version of the game so you can complete your PokeDex. However, even as far back as the original Pokemon games, there have been a handful of in-game NPCs who will trade their Pokemon for yours, which can be helpful for padding your Dex out. Here are all the in-game trades and trade locations in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
All In-Game Trades and Trade Locations in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, there are three particular NPCs with a yellow talk balloon over their heads asking for a certain Pokemon. If you talk to these NPCs, they’ll request a Pokemon from you, offering to trade one of their own in exchange. While it’s not required to do these trades if you don’t want to, they can be a handy way to get a few tricky entries for your Dex down without having to bother your friends.

One thing to keep in mind is that, while the NPC will take any of the requested Pokemon you offer them, the Pokemon they give you has fixed stats and levels, as well as a nickname that, unfortunately, you can’t change. If you don’t have enough Gym Badges, the new Pokemon may not listen to you until you do.
The in-game trade NPCs can be found in the following cities:
- Cortondo, on the main walking path
- Cascarrafa, by the central fountain
- Levincia, in the central area across from the battle court
Cortondo Trade
This girl is looking for a Flabebe. In return, she’ll give you a Snom with the following specs:
- Level 10
- Ability: Shield Dust
- Nature: Rash
- Moves: Struggle Bug, Powder Snow
Cascarrafa Trade
This girl is looking for a Paldean Wooper (the brown one). In return, she’ll give you a regular blue Wooper. This is the only way you can get a non-Paldean Wooper besides transferring Pokemon from another game. This Wooper has the following specs:
- Level 18
- Ability: Damp
- Nature: Impish
- Moves: Rain Dance, Mud Shot, Haze, Slam
Levincia Trade
This girl is looking for a Pincurchin. In return, she’ll give you a Haunter, though since it’s being traded, it’ll evolve into a Gengar on the spot. This Gengar has the following specs:
- Level 25
- Ability: Levitate
- Nature: Brave
- Moves: Payback, Spite, Curse, Hex
Take good care of those Pokemon! After all, it’d be really awkward if someone gave you their friend only for you to leave them in a PC box forever. Not that… I’d know anything about that, of course.
