I do not care for bugs in the slightest and don’t want them anywhere near me. That said, I get the appeal of hunting them down in the wilderness and capturing them for study. They are certainly very fascinating critters and interesting to observe… behind thick glass. Here are all of the bugs and how to collect bugs in Coral Island.
All Bugs and How to Collect Bugs in Coral Island
Not unlike games like Animal Crossing, Coral Island features a myriad of different insects you can capture and catalog. You can hold onto them if you want a boring pet, but you can also donate them for display at the local museum. If you’ve already donated a particular bug to the museum, you can also hock them at a store for a quick buck.

Before you can go hunting down bugs, though, you need to complete the mainline quest “Visit the Beach Shack.” This’ll get you acquainted with Sunny and Eleanor, the latter of whom will reward you with her bug-catching net. This net is required to catch bugs; you can’t just grab them with your bare hands, not that you’d want to.
Once you’ve got the net, you can start hunting around for bugs. To actually catch a bug, all you have to do is swing the net at them, and you’ll grab them automatically. There are a few additional factors you should keep in mind, though:
- Swinging your net around consumes energy, so keep some snacks handy to replenish it.
- Most bugs will run away if you approach too quickly. Hold down the left mouse button to move slowly toward them, then release it to swing the net.
- As you approach a bug, you’ll see a radius in front of you. This determines the range of your net, so make sure the bug is actually in it before you unleash the swing.
- Bugs appear in different spots at different times of day. During the day, when people are out and about, they’ll mostly stick to areas where the people ain’t like caves and wide-open areas. At night, they’ll be more plentiful, roaming around in the town’s main concorse.
- Some bugs only come out during certain seasons. If you’re not in their season of choice, you’re out of luck until the weather changes.
