There are many secrets to uncover in Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course. From the variety of new weapons that have just been introduced to the game, down to the secret boss that you must search for and defeat. However, what’s even more difficult than defeating this secret boss is unlocking it, which requires you to solve the graveyard puzzle.

How to Solve the Graveyard Puzzle in Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course DLC

Step #1 – Travel to the Graveyard

The first step to solving the graveyard puzzle is to travel to the Graveyard in Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course. Which can be found at the southernmost point of the DLC island, directly above the Howling Aces boss fight location.

You will know when you’re there because a detective ghost will be standing near a small graveyard containing nine tombstones.

Step #2 – Purchase the Broken Relic

Once you’ve arrived at the Graveyard, you will then need to find yourself the Broken Relic. Which is a brand-new item that you can purchase with coins at the nearby shop.

Step #3 – Find and Interact with the Nearby NPCs

After you have acquired the Broken Relic in Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course, you will want to head towards Glumstone the Giant’s region and be on the lookout for three climbers standing on a ranked podium.

As you speak with them, they will begin to tell you stories of their adventures. However, you will need to listen very carefully because each will provide hints regarding the order to which the tombstones will need to be interacted with once you return to the Graveyard.

This is an important step in the process because the order of the tombstones needed to solve the puzzle is completely random. Meaning that what works for one player might not for another, so, there’s no definitive order. Which is why you need to pay close attention to what the climbers are saying.

In particular, listen for certain “keywords” that could serve as hints. For example, the first place climber might say something like, “my opponents were left down at the bottom”, while the second place climber might say, “I got up right at the crack of dawn”. These could be used to indicate which tombstones you will need to interact with in Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course.

Keep in mind that the each climber’s position on the podium directly corresponds to the order you need to interact with the tombstones in.

Also, it seems like all of the climber’s hints are relative to the middle tombstone, so, you should always start and reset from there. Meaning that if one of the climbers says to go “up and right”, then you should be going up and to the right of the middle tombstone, and so on.

Step #4 – Return to the Graveyard and Solve the Puzzle

Once you believe that you’ve found the correct sequence, you can equip the Broken Relic to your character and interact with the tombstones. If you have press on each of the tombstones in the correct order, then the middle one will light up. From there, you can then interact with it, which will send you into battle with the secret Angel and Devil boss.

If you successfully defeat the secret boss, your Broken Relic will then be upgraded to its true form; the Cursed Relic.
