Since its original release back in 2013, action RPG Path of Exile has found its way to quite a few platforms. While there is a Path of Exile 2, the original game’s tried and true formula (and low price point of free) means it still enjoys a healthy playerbase to this day. But while it’s available on a lot of platforms, is Path of Exile cross platform?
Is Path of Exile Cross Platform?
In broad terms, the answer to that question would be no. Path of Exile’s servers are segregated based on platform, so you won’t get players from platforms other than your own. There is, however, a bit of generalization in determining what platforms the servers cover.
Is Path of Exile cross platform Xbox and PC?
An understandable connection, given Microsoft and all, but sorry, nope.
Can you link PS4 and PC Path of Exile?
That’s another negative, good buddy. No crossplay between PC and PlayStation is allowed.
So what platforms can connect to each other? Basically, the servers are divided into three categories: computers, Xbox, and PlayStation. This means that while a PC can’t play with an Xbox, it can play with a Mac computer. In that same vein, an Xbox One player could play with an Xbox Series X player, and a PlayStation 4 player could play with a PlayStation 5 player. Cross generational play, I guess you’d call it.
Oh, and in case you were wondering, there’s no cross-progression support either, at least not unless you’re playing the Steam version of Path of Exile between a PC and a Mac. It’s one save file per platform, no transferring allowed.
As for whether these features will be implemented later on, considering the game’s sequel has already been out for several years, it’s not likely. If you want to play with your friends, you need to make sure you’re playing in the same console ecosystem as them.
