When will Pokémon UNITE Release on Mobile?

The newest entry into the ever-expanding list of Pokémon spin-off games, Pokémon UNITE, launched earlier this week on the Nintendo Switch. It’s a pretty obvious appeal; people like Pokémon, people like MOBAs, so they put ‘em together. Whether or not it’ll be able to stand up to the likes of League of Legends or Heroes of the Storm remains to be seen, but if nothing else, Pokémon UNITE does have one thing going for it that those games don’t: multiple platforms. Well, it’ll have that eventually, anyway. So, when will Pokémon UNITE release on mobile?

When will Pokémon UNITE Release on Mobile?

While we don’t have the release date of the mobile version of Pokémon UNITE down to a precise day, we do have a fairly tight release frame: September 2021. At some point in September, Pokémon UNITE will be available for download on both Android and iOS devices, including smartphones and tablets. Presumably, it’ll be free to download like the Switch version, though of course there will also be microtransactions for little boosts and character cosmetics.

Speaking of the Switch version, the mobile version of Pokémon UNITE will have full crossplay functionality with the Switch version. Anyone playing on either version of the game can match up with players from both platforms. In addition to crossplay, it’ll also have cross-progression, so if, I dunno, you drop your Switch off a cliff or something, you can still access your account and unlockables through the mobile version of the game by logging in with the same credentials.

Even if you’re waiting to play the mobile version, though, you might want to go ahead and make an account on the Switch version if you can, as everyone who signs up before August 31st will receive a free unlock of the mythical Pokémon Zeraora.
