What is a Cuddle Fish in Fortnite?

There are about 44 collectible fish at this point in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6, and one of the coolest of the bunch of the Cuddle Fish. Perhaps we should say it’s the most OP item in the game right now. The Cuddle Fish, inspired by the actual fish with a similar name, the Cuttlefish, is one of this season’s best catches. If you know how to use this unique fish, you can set yourself up for some rather entertaining kills, to say the least. So, here’s everything you need to know about this fish, including what a Cuddle Fish is in Fortnite and how to catch one for yourself.

What is a Cuddle Fish in Fortnite?

Cuddle Fish are sort of like proximity mines, but they hug the enemy before exploding. Once you find one from a fishing hole, equip it and throw it to the desired location. When an enemy walks near it, the Cuddle Fish will latch onto them and explode within a few seconds, dealing some decent damage.

Each Cuddle Fish does 35 damage, meaning if you can get six of these to stick to one enemy, it’s a one-shot kill. Granted, you’ll need some reasonably clever placement for this to work, but we might see some meme strategies coming back in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6. Consider throwing them into a heavily trafficked bush, or perhaps set up a trap using some bait. Take an eliminated player, for example, and place the Cuddle Fish on top of their items. Maybe through a Mythic in there for good measure. You know some nearby sucker will fall for the bait.

How to Catch Cuddle Fish in Fortnite

You can catch Cuddle Fish anywhere around the map in Fortnite in Chapter 2 Season 6. You might increase your odds a bit if you cast your line into a fishing hole. They come in a pink and blue variant, so what you find will be random, but they both have the same effect. Either way, you can catch one of these anywhere on the map if you’re lucky.
