Whether it is a tent you wish to remove, or a Log Cabin that you have built thanks to the use of the Guide Book, you will eventually need to leave these things behind. Or perhaps you need to reposition them later since you did not pick the correct place, and you have your base set up in a very secluded place, surrounded by not many resources or even exposed to attacks. If that is the case, removing the things you have built is a very good options to start over or get rid of things that are no longer necessary.
