Some people say they enjoy a good chase. Personally, I like my life a little more straightforward, with fewer people running away from me, but I guess I’m not a military major. Atomic Heart’s P-3 is a major, though, and he’s ready to chase his targets down. Here’s how to complete ‘In Hot Pursuit’ in Atomic Heart.
How to Complete ‘In Hot Pursuit’ Quest in Atomic Heart – Guide
In Atomic Heart, when P-3 first encounters Petrov, the perpetrator of the robot riot, the man runs his butt away through a door, siccing the robotic sentries on him. It’s time for a lengthy (and perhaps a bit overly-complex) chase.
How to Find Candle
To begin with, you’re gonna need a special battery called a “Candle” to open the door Petrov booked it through. Take the stairs to the other side of the large room you’re in, shooing away any robots that try to stop you. On the other balcony, enter the open room and hop into the vent to reach the room next to it. You’ll find a Candle on a table in this room, though before you grab it, you should unlock the exit. Take the Candle back to the first balcony and stick it in the slot to open the door.

Next, make your way through the Archives. It’s a pretty straightforward progression, but watch out for the Loader bots swinging their lifts around. You can paralyze them temporarily by striking their cores with SHOK, but don’t wait around for them to boot back up. On the far side of this room is a lump of Polymer sticking out of the ceiling, which you can jump into from a stack of boxes to swim through to the next room.
Opening the Luna Lock
The way forward is barred by a Luna lock, which needs five samples of Lunar soil slotted in to open. There are already two in there, and the other three are marked with waypoints.
You’ll find the first sample nearby, obscured by a shelf and a small stack of boxes. The second sample can be found past a nearby polymer-flooded room. It’s in the dispenser slot in the NORA in the next room. The final slot is found in a vent accessed from that same room, which will also lead you back to the main room. Stick all the samples in the Luna, and the way forward will open.
How to Defeat Robots in Seed Bank
We’re almost there, we just need to make it through the Seed Bank. Follow your waypoint to stay on the critical path, avoiding swerving robots and flying sentries. Now’s a good time to make use of the Electro gun NORA gave you. Past the Break Room, fight your way across the catwalks and snap open the locked door.
Take the elevator up to the higher platform and use the zipline to cross the large gap. Keep following your waypoint, minding the charging robots, until you come across a vein of polymer sticking up out of the floor. Swim through it and follow the waypoint through the next room to finally catch up with Petrov.
Bad news, he’s already dead. Good news, he’s got a Candle you can use. Grab it and head for the exit. You’ll find a new kind of door lock: for this one, you just need to flip the two colored dots until match the colored lights on the outer rim. The exit will lead you back to the spot where this lengthy chase started, where you’ll find slots for two Candles. Stick the one you just got into one of them, then head back upstairs and grab the first one you used for the second slot.
This’ll power up the Birchtree and finish the quest, though unfortunately, there’s another quest around the corner.
