Is Destiny 2 Lightfall Going to Have Higher Difficulty? Answered

Players all over the world want to know whether or not Destiny 2 Lightfall is going to have higher difficulty. Thanks to a combination of a Bungie developer interview last year, and February’s state of the game, we now have those answers.

I’m going to go over what is changing with Destiny 2’s difficulty once Lightfall drops – including changes to the Legendary Campaign, Seasonal activity, and more.

Destiny 2: Is Lightfall Going to Have Higher Difficulty?

Yes, Destiny 2’s Lightfall is going to have higher difficulty than pre-Witch Queen expansions. Witch Queen’s Legendary Campaign was a massive hit when it dropped, and Lightfall will attempt to replicate that success.

In a developer interview with DFlawless, Bungie elaborated on the details of Lightfall’s Legendary Campaign. The biggest takeaways are:

• Legendary Campaign will be returning.
• Players will receive leveled Legendary armor for playing the Campaign.
• Guardians will get to pick one of three Exotics to receive upon completing the Campaign.
• Players will get to unlock an extra Strand Fragment for finishing the Campaign.
• The Lightfall Campaign is going to have much higher enemy density, making it harder than previous Campaigns.

So, not only is Ligthfall going to have higher difficulty, but it’s actually going to be harder than any previous Campaigns we’ve seen.

How is Destiny 2’s Difficulty Changing Post-Lightfall?

Beyond the Campaign, we know a little bit about the difficulty of seasonal activities going forward. According to Bungie’s February 13th state of the game, the development team is happy with the performance of Heist Battlegrounds’ difficulty adjustments.

So happy, in fact, that this difficulty is here to say. What’s more, the Vanguard Strike playlist is getting a makeover to resemble this difficulty, as well.

So, is Destiny 2 Lightfall going to have higher difficulty? Yes, it is. The Legendary Campaign will be harder, as well as Strikes going forward. Strikes won’t quite be at the level of Heist Battlegrounds but expect to see a noticeable bump in difficulty going forward.
