Hogwarts Legacy has seen resounding success amongst critics and early-release reviewers who have already played the game. As the newest game and addition in the Harry Potter universe, the game based off of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World takes place in a familiar setting to fans: Hogwarts! Set in the 1800s, this videogame offers a new plot and storyline that happens well before the battle between He Who Must Not Be Named and the Boy Who Lived. Players will go to Hogwarts as witches and wizards who attend classes, learn spells and discover an ancient magic that has long been hidden from the world…until now!
Hogwarts Legacy, being a role-playing game (RPG), allows the player to make many of the choices on how their individual story unfolds. This allows for a unique experience where you control much of what happens in the game. However, there are also some quests to keep you from straying too far away from the plot of the game. The first quest in this game, the Path to Hogwarts, is what we cover in this guide.

In this quest, you will learn how to cast Protego, Lumos and Revelio, which are all very useful spells to know in Hogwarts Legacy and the outside Wizarding World. Without any further ado, here are all of the steps you’ll need to take in order to finish this quiz.
Starting the Mission Off Right
- Firstly, you will need to escape the dragon that attacks your carriage! There isn’t much you can do while you’re falling, but be sure to heal as soon as you can.
- Follow Professor Fig, your new mentor and confidant, to an enchanted ice wall which you can destroy with a few attacks made of Basic Cast spells.
- Continue following Professor Fig up a ledge and along a stone bridge that he repaired with the spell known as Reparo.
- Help Professor Fig find the out why your Portkey led you to the area. Look for a statue, a mural and a yellow marker which will help you to find an enchanted stone.
- Interact with the magic that is imbued in the mirror you will see. Suddenly, you will be warped to Gringotts Wizarding Bank where Wizards entrust their Gold to the Goblins of Gringotts.
- There is a sleeping Goblin who you will need to wake in order to ride around Gringotts. Do so and hop in!
- Next, follow Professor Fig down to Vault 12 where you will then begin a new cutscene. However, look to the right side for a chest containing rewards first!
Complete the Quest!
- In the Vault, Professor Fig will show you how to cast Revelio, which you will then use to reveal a door nearby with a key symbol.
- Enter the Valut and follow Professor Fig until you find a glow which signifies magic you need to interact with.
- Cast Revelio which will reveal a statue to you. Professor Fig will then teach you how to cast Lumos to light up the area. Take your time while learning and then use Lumos on the statue.
- Face the statue while it stands, and prepare to cast Protego on the fly.
- You will then be attacked by many Guardian statues, so let them attack you. Why? Because your next objective is to let them attack you and for you to deflect their attempts with Protego.
- Destroy the statues in turn with Basic Casts
- Search for Professor Fig and interact with the magic that you are lead to by wisps in the air.
- Activate the statues that you see, and make them activate by casting Revelio and then Lumos.
- Fight them off the same as before, using your Basic Casts to take them out. If you find they are about to attack, use Protego to block these attempts.
- Continue looking for Professor Fig by following the wisps of light until you are lead to another key symbol awaits.
- Interact with it to open a portal, which will take you to a Pensieve, marking the end of this quest!
