Fire Emblem Engage has notorious difficulty spikes, making a Maddening run all that more imposing of a challenge. So, let’s see how our unit recommendations when it comes to Maddening mode stack up against Normal/Hard. Here’s a simple breakdown on which units you should prioritise playing as and grinding with to help you get through Maddening safely!
Fire Emblem Engage Maddening Tier List
Please keep in mind the brackets we are using here:
S means for the best units to be building up. Even when battling without that strong Emblem Rings, they can hold their own due to their base stats alone.
A are more than viable options if built correctly and paired up with Emblems that bring out their advantages.
B are brilliant up until the late game. These units will struggle more so than the units listed above them until given the very best Emblems, and even then they may not be as viable as simply running with armies made up of S-A.
C-D are units who will not be necessary end-game unless effectively built up beforehand. These units are consistently weaker than all the ones listed above them due to their more limiting stat growth and usage.
