Voltorbs are regularly utilized throughout the Pokemon world as convenient electricity generators, as their seemingly endless energy and testy attitudes make them suitable for a quick jolt of juice. That electricity is quite a valuable resource, especially since you can apparently just pick it up off the ground. How? I ‘unno, but you want it! Here’s how to get Voltorb Sparks in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
How to get Voltorb Sparks in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Voltorb Sparks are a material item in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, used in the creation of TMs at a Pokemon Center’s TM Machine. Whenever you successfully catch or defeat a wild Voltorb or its evolved form, Electrode, it’ll drop one or more Voltorb Sparks. They can also be found randomly in glowing spots on the ground near where Voltorbs congregate.

Voltorb Sparks are used in the creation of the following TMs:
- Electro Ball: 5,000 LP, 3 Pachirisu Fur, 3 Voltorb Sparks, 3 Tadbulb Mucus
- Light Screen: 800 LP, 3 Magnemite Screw, 3 Voltorb Sparks
- Eerie Impulse: 400 LP, 3 Voltorb Sparks, 3 Shinx Fang
Finding Voltorbs
Voltorbs are typically found near towns and mineral deposits. In the Paldea region, that means the various mines and quarries of the East Province, specifically around Areas One and Three, as well as the mining operations at the base of Glaseado Mountain that you can check out. You can also look in the vicinity of the towns in the South Province, specifically Areas One, Two, and Six.
On occasion, Electrodes may also spawn in the same general areas as Voltorbs in mines and the vicinity of towns. They only have a roughly 20% chance of spawning, though, so they’re not really ideal for hunting Voltorb Sparks.
You might want to wear a pair of gloves if you’re hunting for Voltorb Sparks. I don’t know how you can pick them up, but they are still electricity, after all.
