What is Cellular Suppression in Destiny 2?

A Void Warmind Cell that doesn't work with Void 3.0... great.

Cellular Suppression is a Destiny 2 combat-style mod. It’s not the most popular or common, thanks in part to it being a Warmind Cell mod, but that doesn’t mean you should ignore it entirely. We’re going to run you through what Destiny 2‘s Celluar Suppression mod is, what it does, and how to get your hands on it yourself.

Even if you never plan on using Cellular Suppression, it’s worth having in your collection. You never know when Bungie will make a big change to the META, so it can’t hurt to be prepared.

Cellular Suppression is a Void Destiny 2 combat-style Warmind Cell mod. It costs four energy to equip and requires the use of an IKELOS or Seventh Seraph weapon to spawn Warmind Cells.

The Cellular Suppression Destiny 2 mod is a bit antiquated. It’s been around for a while — long before the 3.0 subclass reworks. Due to this, its description is a bit misleading. In-game, Cellular Suppression states that “damaging a Warmind Cell creates a burst of suppressing Void energy. You also do less damage to your Warmind Cells.”

What does that mean? Well, if you shoot a Warmind Cell, any enemies near it won’t be able to see, shoot, or use their abilities for two seconds. You don’t need to destroy the Cell to trigger this, so you can do it multiple times — hence the mod also decreasing how much damage you do to your Warmind Cells.

Let’s dive into that deeper — first, you don’t actually do less damage to your Warmind Cells. Instead, your Warmind Cells actually get around 300% more health than they do by default. That’s fine, but where this mod becomes troublesome is in its use of “Suppression.” Despite using that keyword, and doing the same thing as Void 3.0 Suppression, Cellular Suppression doesn’t actually inflict the Suppression debuff from the aforementioned Void 3.0 rework. As a result, it loses a lot of potential synergies and essentially kills its chances of being even remotely META.

Cellular Suppression Destiny 2 — How to Get it

Bungie has stated in the past that it wants to take another look at the game’s mod-situation to modernize it for build-crafting with the 3.0 subclasses, so it can’t hurt to get your hands on Cellular Suppression in Destiny 2 even if you don’t plan on using it.

Unfortunately, like all combat-style mods, Cellular Suppression is only sold by Ada-1 in the Tower Annex, and her inventory is on a random rotation — so whether or not she sells it any time soon is down to pure luck. All you can do is check in with her daily, and pray to the Traveler that she doesn’t sell it on a day you forget to log in.
