Thor's Hammer in Fortnite

Pickaxes are designed to harvest and mine materials that can be used to build various structures in Fortnite. Which is one of the most important aspects of the game. This is why it’s essential to know which are some of the absolute best pickaxes in Fortnite.

So, here’s our official ranking of the top ten best pickaxes to use in Fortnite.

10 Best Pickaxes In Fortnite – Ranked

Introduced as part of the Tales from the Animus Set in Chapter 3 Season 2, Ezio’s Hidden Blade is considered one of the best dual pickaxes in Fortnite. The built-in feature is really cool, resembling the classic function used in Assassin’s Creed. However, you can only unlock it by purchasing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok before March 10th, 2023. Or by buying it in the Item Shop for anywhere between 1,800 and 2,800 V-Bucks. Nevertheless, it’s easily one of the best pickaxes in Fortnite.

No. 9 – DRIVER

Simple yet effective. That’s the best way to describe the driver. Regardless of whether you’re a golf lover or somebody just looking for a less flashy pickaxe in Fortnite. the Driver is an affordable option that everybody can get behind. It also just so happens to be one of the more effective pickaxes in the game.

Similar to the popular Thor movies the item is based on, the Mjolnir can only be wielded by those worthy and capable of harnessing its power. In fact, even to this day, it can only be used by Thor and Captain America skins. It made its way onto the game via the Season 4 Chapter 2 Battle Pass as part of the Marvel collaboration. And Fortnite fans haven’t looked back since. It’s easily one of the most powerful and animated pickaxes in Fortnite.

Unlike the Mjolnir, the Ice Breaker can be used by anybody and is actually one of the more popular pickaxes in the game. And for good reason. Not only is it a clean and simple alternative to the default pickaxe in Fortnite. But it’s also inexpensive and efficient. Making it one of the best pickaxes in Fortnite to date.

Next, we’ve got another Marvel special, the MK. 85 Energy Blade. Which is the popular blade wielded by none other than Iron Man. Featuring a unique swing animation and raw explosive power, the Energy Blade was introduced to the game back in August 2020 during Season 4 Chapter 2. It also came with Iron Man’s latest suit that he wore in Avengers: Endgame.

Another energy-themed blade that’s used as a pickaxe in Fortnite is the ever-popular Phantasmic Pulse. First appearing back in 2020 as part of the Boundless Set, it’s easily become one of the most heavily used pickaxes in Fortnite. Part of what makes it so appealing is that it’s fully customizable with various colours and shapes (over 750, to be exact). Meaning that you can truly make it your very own. It’s also the only pickaxe in the game that provides this option.

That’s right, at number four we have yet another superhero-themed pickaxe, Storm’s Hand of Lightning. Storm is known for her ability to control and manipulate weather, which is why this pickaxe allows the user to wield the power of lightning. As if this wasn’t cool enough, it’s also extraordinarily rare. In fact, it was introduced as a reward for reaching the 55th Tier in the Season 4 Battle pass back in 2020 and hasn’t appeared back in the Item Shop since.

No. 3 – REAPER

Despite being one of the first pickaxes ever released in Fortnite back in 2017, the Reaper is one of the more popular items in the game for numerous reasons. Most notably due to its distinct sound and appearance. Inspired by the Grim Reaper, this was one of the first harvesting tools ever sold in the Item Shop and is still one of the best pickaxes in Fortnite.

Next up we’ve got our first and only holiday-themed harvesting tool on the list, the Candy Axe. This festive pickaxe was first added to Fortnite in 2017, but it’s featured in the Item Shop around the same time every year, Christmas! Wrapped in Christmas lights that glow up after every kill. The Candy Axe is easily one of the more exhilarating pickaxes to use in Fortnite.

Sliding into our top spot on the list is arguably the most highly sought-after and extravagant pickaxe in Fortnite to date, the Leviathan Axe. This classic pickaxe first made its appearance back in 2020. When the game it’s based on, God of War, was at its peak in popularity. Despite being one of the more powerful and flashy pickaxes in the game, it also so happens to be one of the rarer as well. Since it generally carries a higher price tag and hasn’t made too many appearances in the Item Shop since its initial release.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the rarest pickaxe in Fortnite?

Our extensive list of the best pickaxes to use in Fortnite might leave you wondering which is the rarest. Well, it turns out that the FNCS Axe of Champions is the rarest pickaxe in the game. This is because it’s only available to those who won the Fortnite Championship Series. Plus, you can only wield it if you’re the current champion. Meaning that once you get dethroned, you will no longer have access to this exclusive Fortnite pickaxe.

What is the best-sounding pickaxe in Fortnite?

This one’s a little more subjective, but I think almost anybody would admit that the best-sounding pickaxe in Fortnite is the Trusty No. 2. Outside of the classic black and yellow aesthetic, which naturally blends with every outfit in the game. The Trusty No. 2 also has the cleanest sound that’s not too overbearing but satisfying enough that you want to continue harvesting.
